Adenoids/tonsils
DS is almost 3 and had his adenoids and tonsils shaved Friday.
I know it's soon but He's still complaining that his throat hurts.
Can any BTDT moms tell me when he can expect to feel better without Advil/Tylenol ?
It's so sad :(

aww..poor baby. My dc had this surgery a few months ago. He was very irritable & uncomfortable the next day but 2 days after surgery, he was eating everything like normal & never complained that food hurt going down. Your dc is probably at the end of it. He remained cranky for a week though but I have to say that the improvement in his quality of life is amazing. I wish we had done the surgery earlier. Good luck to your dc.

At least a week or so. It was around 10 days for my son IIRC.

My daughter had it done at 5 on a Saturday (we did it at NYU). She was cranky the day of but felt pretty great the next day. The doctor said she could go to school Monday or Tuesday. She went back Wednesday feeling perfect. By Monday she felt really good. The only reason she was out two additional days was that the reason we did it was that she had a lot of trapped very infected jus us behind her enormous adenoids. She ended up needing an antibiotic because she started a low fever Monday. The advantage of the partial tonsil is that they have a very quick recovery as opposed to the full tonsil. Best thing we every did for her!

DS2 was 2.5 when he had his tonsils and adenoids removed. It took about 4 days before he was really willing to eat anything and 7-10 days before he was completely back to himself. He spent a week at home before he was well enough to return to daycare. Once he was at daycare, we just gave him a dose of Motrin at night for several nights to keep him comfortable.

Thanks all.
He's eating and drinking with no problem, but still complaining of a sore throat. I know it's probably just too soon to expect that to be gone.
He's also talking/crying in his sleep a LOT and very restless. I am guessing from the anesthesia? Or maybe just the stress of the whole experience?? Ugh.
