I just got married. I changed my name for work, health insurance, Social security office, DMV, etc. Do I need to change my name with the courts? thank you

What do you mean with the courts? I am an atty so I had to change it but otherwise the courts don't deal with name change for marriage.

Okay good! One of my papers said submit marriage license or petition of name change whatever is applicable, so I was wondering if I missed doing something. How much is the passport name change?

To change your name on your passport, you have to order a new passport (and pay the fee for a new one.) So, until mine expires, I have just used my maiden name when we book travel that requires a passport. Well, partly because of the fee, but mostly because I have just been too lazy to get around to changing it

Ditto! It's expensive. I actually have to change it before summer of 2016. I got married in 2010.

they actually give you one year to change your passport for free!

That's only if you had renewed it within the year before you got married.
I'm also holding out on changing my passport, I had just missed the cut off to change it for free.
