Trying different bottles with breastfed baby...
How many times did you try a bottle before you moved on to the next? DD is 3 months and wont take a bottle. We've tried a few times but I need to get back to work so I need to get her used to it. How many times did you try a certain bottle before you moved on to the next?

Trying different bottles with breastfed baby...
My son wouldn't take bottles at all. I would move onto a different one after 1-2 days of trying. I stuck with the one that he hated the least. Lanisinoh. I think I tried 4 different ones.

Trying different bottles with breastfed baby...
Luckily my LO took to the first bottle we tried (and thank God, because I registered for a whole mess of them!).....they are Tommee Tippee. Of course, when I actually went back to work, LO went on a bit of a bottle strike for 3 days, but finally realized it was bottle or be hungry until mommy comes home from work and she started eating again.
If she didn't end her hunger strike quickly, we were prepared to try another bottle by the end of the week (I guess, day 5 of my workweek then). I heard Medela Calma works pretty well with babies who refuse bottles - they work on suction (just like our nipple does), as opposed to the constant drip of a regular bottle...

Wanted to also add that, if LO just flat out refuses a handful of different bottles, you can try cup/spoon feeding. You can buy special flexible cups that you put up to the babies mouth and let them drink. And, Medela makes a spoon for this purpose....its attached to a syringe that holds 2 oz of milk. Or, just use those tiny little dixie cups...

Everyone keeps telling me not to worry and that she'll eventually take the bottle when she gets hungry enough, but I feel bad letting her get to that point. When your LO had her hunger strike was she at daycare? Did she just scream when she wouldnt take the bottle? I realize that I'm probably 99% of the problem with her not taking bottle because as soon as she cries I just give in and feed her.

Thanks, yes we also tryed the Doidy cup but she just spit it out or let it dribble out of her mouth. I'm going to try a spoon this afternoon.

This is my 3rd week back at work. The first two weeks I was back, my mom and my MIL watched LO for us.....she just started daycare this Monday (doing daycare mon-wed and the grandmas get her thurs-fri). So, she was with my MIL and/or my mom when the bottle strike first occured. I was so stressed.....here I was my first days back at work and she won't eat!!! And we had given her a handful of bottles before too (not me, but DH, MIL, my mom, etc) - for instance, when me and DH were away for about 6 hours at a wedding. She took them NO PROBLEM. I think she just realized this was different.....she woke up in the AM and it was a "where is mommy" sort of thing.
On day 3 she ended the strike by downing 6 full oz in one sitting for my mom at, like, 2pm.
Flash forward to this week - her first day at daycare this past Monday. Our daycare woman said she did a very short lived strike in the AM but by noon took the bottle just fine....no more strikes since then. With LO, I think its just change and new people that get her out of sorts, but shes acclimating pretty well now.
The first few days I was back to work, I would get home and LO would just look so spent....emotionally spent. Now, I get big smiles when I get home.

Oh, and she didnt scream any more than usual.....she only got really upset when everyone tried to give her the bottle. She slept more than usual though....I'm sure it was emotionally and physically draining for her. It was so heartbreaking couple days - coming home to a LO that just looked sad, tired, and hungry. We ordered that Medela spoon attached to the syringe but never needed to use it.
When it was happening, I texted my doula for her advice and she suggested the spoon and/or doidy cup. She said that some LOs never take the bottle or eat much though when the boob is away....
some just happily sleep more during the day and eat all their calories when mom gets home (reverse-cycling). That doesn't sound like it bodes so well for moms sleep though!

Yeah - I also called my ped the two days this was going on and she told me not to "reward" bad behavior. She said, more times than not, they will just give in and take the bottle. If not, you may have a reverse-cycler. But, she said not to give the breast right when baby refuses the bottle - wait at least a hour or more so the baby doesn't associate refusing the bottle with the outcome they are looking for.
Harsh, but I can see her point

We used the medal bottles that I pumped into.
Ideally you want to find a nipple that is shaped most like your breast if she is really picky.

Not the mom, but a Grandma - we went through this with my granddaughter last year, when my daughter was going back to work and I was watching my granddaughter. My daughter had tried several different bottles, each a few times before she went back to work. Nothing was successful. Day one of watching her was hard, as she only took an ounce or two all day. By mid day on day 2 I was desperate, and felt bad for her. I bought 2 more types of bottles. The munchkin latch was the one we had success with. She took it the first time it was offered. After a while, she would drink from any kind of bottle. Good luck!

Ds took Tommy tippee after trying a few.
Though dd would take the same. Nope. After getting her on mam pacifiers, I saw that babies r us carries mam bottles!!!!. Makes sense that the bottle and pacifier are the same.
I also saw that nuk makes bottles too.
