My son is a biter help
I'm not sure everyone will agree with this, and my DC is to young to worry about this yet, so not speaking from personal experience, but I've always heard you bite them back. Once they realize it hurts they usually stop. By BIL was a terrible biter, finally his grandma bit him back a few times and he stopped. My mom said I bit once, she bit me back and I never did it again.
I know countless people from our generation this method worked for. But I imagine that this age of parents will mostly be anti this advice.
I hate how everything our parents did is considered so wrong, because we all turned out so bad. I hope I'm half as good a mom as my mom was.

Re: My son is a biter help
My DS wasn't a biter, but he was a face scratcher- right around the same age. You, and someone at day care, needs to shadow him while he plays. He needs to be stopped as he goes in for the bite and put in time out. It was a little easier for me, because he wasn't in day care, but did attend a gym class and had frequent play dates. I was on his butt for a few weeks. I would talk to him beforehand and let him know that scratching was wrong. We do not scratch our friends. I would usually have a lollipop or small treat for him if he was able to get through playtime with no incidents. If I saw him go for someone he sat immediately in time out. Sometimes 2-3 times in an hour. After a couple of weeks of being on top of him, he never did it again.

Re: My son is a biter help
I don't advise biting back because that teaches them that biting may hurt, but that it's ok.
We had an episode this year when DS bit in day care. His teacher redirected him immediately and gave him a time out (which I asked her to do). That night he also got a time out at home and no tv/tablet. We repeated "no biting" to him constantly and made him repeat it back to us for several days, reminding him also before we dropped him at day care. This worked for us.
Biting is very natural in children who get frustrated but cannot voice that frustration. Just keep consistency and it should hopefully be just a phase. If it continues or escalates, then you may want to talk to a child psychologist, but in general, this is very typical.

Re: My son is a biter help
I think its difficult for you to do anything if the incident is happening in daycare. What are they doing about it?
My DS bit me a couple times while playing. Both times I yelled OUCH loudly (cause it freakin hurt!!! who knew a little mouth could cause that much pain) and I told him I didn't want to play with him and walked away.
Thankfully that's all it took. However I did notice that we use to play with him and say things like I'm going to eat your belly and pretend to eat his belly, which was really pretend biting. I stopped playing those games and asked my DH to stop too. I don't know if that also helped.
