Missing 27 year old from Massapequa Park

Ok, just did a little reading and it says that he went jogging, but his grandmother was the last person to see him the evening before. How are they sure he went jogging? Could this guy have gone on vacation without telling anyone and his family just panicked?

Why did it seem fishy? What type of red flags?

He left everything home (cell, wallet, etc).

For public safety reasons, I'm just glad that he was located. His personal reasons/issues for going missing really don't interest me.

I can't speak for anyone else who posted but I will say this: it isn't that his reasons or whatever interest me, and I feel for him if he is going through something emotionally or psychologically BUT what upsets me is the lack of consideration on his part for the resources used and money spent, etc. in trying to locate him... Regarding the police launching aviation units, canine units, officers on overtime combing the woods, etc. Any adult knows that if they don't alert their loved ones, they'll be considered missing, the loved ones will contact police and a search will be launched. It's common sense. The lack of thought on his part in that was wrong.

Not to mention the undue stress and anxiety placed upon his loved ones. He could have very easily left them a note stating he needed to "get away" and that he would reach out when he was ready, but not to worry, and saved the innocent tax payers and residents of Nassau a boatload of money in trying to find him when he was off in another state.

The DA could press charges against him for that.

Agree.

Also made me think of Robert Mayer, which I still think about time from time.

Exactly. How much did the county spend on this? On FB everyone is saying respect the families privacy. That all went out the window with the first news cast . Very glad he is found safe.

Mayer wasn't found as far as I know. But I feel like people don't just vanish. When people are reported lost and there are search teams and police and dogs out searching and nothing turns up... Then you have to really consider that they left on their own accord. As hard as that may be to imagine.

And it's sad because sometimes u don't knkw what people struggle with internally.

I'm glad this guy was found safe.

He planned this out. He told his grandmother the night before he was going for a run in the morning because he had a cold and wanted to break up his congestion. He left his wallet, phone, watch, etc.. at home. He was found in Montana. how did he get there with no identification? He must have hidden stuff to plan his departure.
He must be in a bad place to do something like this, but at the same time, did he not think his family would call the police? he lived with his grandmother, he didn't live alone. Of course she would be worried if he didn't show up for work or go home. If he wanted to clear his head he should have said he was going on vacation, why just try to vanish?

We don't know his history or if he is in the right place mentally/cognitively.

Not all families readily share this stuff because of the stigma around it.

Yes, I have heard of people being fined for the amount of the county resources that were used in searching for them when they were falsely "missing"
It absolutely happens

Didn't that happen with the "Runaway Bride"?

ETA- ok, in her case, it was because she also lied about being kidnapped.
