Switching to Gentlease Formula?
If you have ever switched to a gentlease formula for your child, how did you know it was time? What were their symptoms? My newborn is 9 days old. She was on RTF for 5 days then we switched over to powder. Ever since we switched to powder she went 30 hours without pooping. Then she had some soft solid poops. I called the doc and they said to watch what happens over the next few days. Shes been very fussy and then last night was screaming and crying in pain while she pooped for about 10-15 min straight. It just kept coming out of her and she was in pain. In my heart I feel like she is ready for gentlease. Do you think its too soon to tell?

Re: Switching to Gentlease Formula?
When DD was born we went from Similac Advanced to Similac Sensitive then to Gentlease to finally Alimentum. The WORST formula for her was the Gentlease...she had shooting diarrhea and you could actually hear noises in her stomach...she had a milk protein allergy which now I wished they had tested for earlier then they did. My advice is to have you child's stool tested bc if that is the problem you can go straight to alimentum. Good Luck.

Re: Switching to Gentlease Formula?
We started on similiac advanced. Ds2 had terrible gas and crying all the time. Spoke with the dr and switched to gentalease. It didnt happen right away but now at 3.5 months he is much less gassy and better.

Re: Switching to Gentlease Formula?
DD was crying and screaming 24/7. Really gassy and in pain. The switch helped a bit, but then she got reflux so we had to switch to an AR

Re: Switching to Gentlease Formula?
Yup..same. My twins started with Similac Advanced and were screaming in pain. We switched to Similac sensitive and then they were going almost two days without pooping so we moved to Gerber goodstart gentle. HUGE difference. I also stopped using dr. browns bottles and only use Avent and it seems to have made a huge difference as well.

Re: Switching to Gentlease Formula?
After a few days on a formula to give the other a chance to get out of the system. Though irritations to the GI system could take 2-3 weeks to heal, so it's hard to tell. My doctors were pretty aggressive with formula changes. By the time she was 5 weeks old, she went through gerber gentle, soothe, nutramigen, and then finally a gi doctor who dx her with a milk allergy. She needed neocate. She was poopong about 11 times/day throughout this ordeal and in a lot of pain. For us, switching from Avent to dr. Browns also made a difference.
