Gift for goddaughter on her baptism
My brother and SIL just asked DH and I to be my niece's godparents. We're thrilled and so honored. We'd live to give her a gift for her baptism. What do godparents normally give their godchild for baptism?

Traditionally... Godmother buys he outfit and godfather buys a cross. But it really depends on what they want. Honestly, I'd ask them. DHs nephew was christened last year as he's the godfather. Both DH and the godmother ended up buying a cross. It was mortifying for my husband bc she gave hers first and it was a lot nicer (she has $$)

Id ask if they want you to get the traditional items or not. My sister picked out both a cross and gown for her daughter so I just gave money. My sister gave my DS money and a PB personalized stroller blanket.

I gave my nephew a cross. I asked my sister first though so we didn't purchase the same as the godfather.

This! If not a cross you could do another piece of jewelry like diamond earrings.

My DH and I are godparents to one child, we bought his outfit, shoes, party outfit and paid for part of his party.

We paid for the dress, offered the choice of cross or diamond earrings ( Went with the earrings which was my preference) and then gave a monetary gift.
Oh also paid for the change of dress for the reception and all her accessories.. headband, shoes, etc.

MY DD Godmother gave her an embroidered bib and maching blanket with her name and the date, a personalized crib angel, a frame and a few other sentimental items. The Godfather bought her cross. DH and I bought her gown since I had it made from my wedding dress.

Thank you everyone! We offered to purchase the Christening gown and we're going to get her a bracelet with a cross and her initials on it.
