Securing furniture?

We are starting to consider moving DS to a twin bed. He's young yet but has sleep issues and we think it might help. He's a climber and because he's so young it's hard to explain why he can't/shouldn't climb. I'm afraid he's going to get into or onto his furniture if he wakes up in the middle of the night. I have a monitor, but who knows if I'd hear it if I'm sleeping. Anyway...did you secure furniture when you moved to a bed? If so, how? I was wondering if I should just move the big pieces into another room?)

Yes as soon as I read this awful story about a child dying from a dresser falling on her.
It gutted me.

DH went right to Home Depot and bought the kits to secure everything to the walls. It was quick and easy.
You can buy it in a kit in home depot

Thanks! What about for locking the drawers? ie: keeping them from using them as steps to the top? I have safety locks on the kitchen cabinets, but do people usually put those in furniture? Or is there something that locks the handles together so they can't be opened?

Yup, I would lock the drawers as well. Anything that can keep them from climbing. My DD is really tall and another mom told me as a precaution stack two baby gates one on top of the other with enough room in between them for the door knob on the outside of the door so if the open the door they can't get out or climb over a single baby gate. I thought that was pretty crafty.
