The two new ships are superior to the older two. Castaway cay is awesome - some itineraries have 2 days there.

And where's the best place to book? On their site in getting like $8000. That's insane. Do they do deals?

definitely look for one that has 2 stops at Castaway Cay (the disney island in the bahamas) its awesome!!! we were on the dream last year, and it was great!! But YES- disney cruises are $$$$ and i don't think they do much in the way of deals at all, like the kids sail free or free drink packages that other cruise lines do....

Re: Disney cruise
We loved the Disney Dream Bahamas cruise so much that we are doing it again.
I shopped around for pricing. Costco offers a Costco gift card. Some travel agents offer $100 onboard credit. At the end, I just booked through Disney cruise with no middle man. I had questions about transportation and it was just easier to deal with them directly.
I was working with a travel agent I found but the turnaround time for responses was too long. I liked being able to call Disney myself and getting an answer instantly.

Disney is no longer doing the double dip cruise....2 stops at CC. Our sailing a couple of weeks ago was the last.
I prefer mid ship low deck to minimize feeling movement. We stay in a deluxe family outside on deck 2. Love that lobby theater etc are a walk up the stairs and restaurant for breakfast just down the hall. I personally wouldn't do a verandah with my kids.
I posted many tips recently if you search

Thank you. Yes I book marked your other thread. Amazing tips thanks.
Do you mind sharing how much you paid for the deluxe? You can fm if you like. I'm just finding $8000 a lot to spend especially on an inside cabin.

We had two rooms for 2 people in each, an outside and an inside (but myself and 2 kids slept in the outside)Outside on deck 2 was $3302 5 nights dream for two. It was actually Deluxe Oceanview, not family. The inside room on same deck across hall was $3062 for two. The inside room is teeny tiny on deck 2. I can't imagine having more than 2 in there. No split bath. Our outside room had huge porthole to sit in and split bath. I don't book their transfers as they are $$$ and I book insurance on my own. Pricey but totally worth it. Their pricing fluctuates based on demand. Gets higher and higher and peak times are more. They do often have last minute GTY rates where you pay in full at booking, you choose a stateroom category, and they choose the room for you. Those come up within 60 days of the sailing sometimes.

Re: Disney cruise
Are you looking in a 7 night cruise for 8k?
Disney cruises cost about $1000 per night on the cruise. We just booked a 3 night cruise on the Dream for $3100. We chose a family deluxe balcony room on Deck 6. We will be able to walk to the kids club one level down.
Inside cabins were like $2900 for the same cruise. We decided to pay a tiny more for the balcony and larger room.

Re: Disney cruise
I just finished a 7 day on their newest ship the Fantasy. It was paid for by my mother in law, and it was around $8K for my family of 4.
It was by far one of the best vacations my family has taken. I am not a Disney fanatic, my DHs family is. I was blown away. We all were. It was a truly amazing trip. We will be doing it again, but probably to Alaska or Europe because we've both cruised in the carribbean many times.
We went to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Castaway Cay.
All ports and excursions were great. We didn't do anything in Jamaica except shop in Port. We had terrible luck in Castaway Cay with sea lice and then a terrible two hour rain storm, but overall, we would do it again and could see how Castaway could be a ton of fun.
The ship was gorgeous. We had a deluxe family oceanview and my girls loved the seat in the porthole. The room was huge. Food is incredible and we loved the rotational dining. Service was impeccable.
If you have questions, please ask.

What happened with sea lice?
I can only guess and it sounds frightening.

It sounds worse than it is. It's baby jellyfish that you can't see and when they sting you it makes you itchy. Both my girls were complaining and the family next to us had a sea lice repellant and sunscreen spray because it happened to them on the same trip the year before. She heard my kids complaining and shared it with me.
I rinsed them off in the shower and they were fine. But we avoided the ocean water and brought them to the sprinklers.

This isn't true. - my parents are looking at a 4 night cruise on the magic in October (with my brothers family) that makes two stops in CC.

We had no issue with sea lice this time. We did not swim near snorkel area though. That is where we got bit on the cruise before last, and I have heard of most people getting bit. But who knows. We stayed by the jungle gym thing and swam out to Pelican Plunge and did the water slides.

We have been to CC 3 times and never had a problem either, but we don't snorkel.

We were near the Pelican Plunge water slide.
From what I read online afterwards, it seems to be seasonal with July/August being the worst.
They do sell jellyfish sting remedies at the shops. I think that's indicative of Disneys awareness that they're around. If I were to go again I'd buy the sea safe sunscreen spray as a precaution. My niece ended up with a rash that we think was from them.
It's not a complaint of mine. I just wish I knew so I could have prevented it.

I had bought a bottle of Sea Safe but we didn't even end up using it. We were there end of July and beginning of August.
We have them on LI also. I have read about it being an issue on some North Shore beaches recently.

thank you for the info.
Yes I was thinking a full 7 days, but that may be to much for us. Maybe a 5 day cruise would be better.
I am so happy to hear the great reviews. and for the advice. I will look into it all.
