must haves for a newborn...
my youngest is 3.5 so it's not that long ago but not sure if they have any new items out there for newborns that I should purchase.
what are some of the must haves that I need for this baby. I have the major items such as stroller, car seat and pack n play.
anything else?
ETA: also have swing

Fisher price. They have diff version and there is a deluxe one that vibrates. I have the snuggabunny. Super soft and both my girls slept in it. Dd2 is only 5 weeks and she went 8 hours in it last night!
Better than a bassinet. It's on an incline, super soft and padded so they feel secure snd hugged. Plus it's so easy to fold and take up or downstairs, to others houses or bathroom so you can shower

Regarding th rock n play, I'd say to get a plain one that does not have the "stuffed animal" padding (ie snugabunny, little lamb, etc.). We had one of these at first for my dd, and I thought the extra padding fabric was very close to her face. I showed a photo of her in it to her pediatrician (who advocates for the rnp), and she told me to immediately stop using it and get the one that's just fabric with no padding embellishments. She said it was a SIDS danger.
Our new must-haves for immediate use for dc 2 are:
Burp cloths
New side snap undershirts
Diapers
Aquaphor
Bottles
Bathtub and cleanser
Monitor w/ 2-camera capabilities
Bassinet (got rid of our previous one)
Diaper pail
Play mat for tummy time
Washcloths

I'm doing the same right now (at 37.5 weeks).
I unwrapped:
Pack n play (I use it as a napper)
Swing
Bouncer chair
Car seat
Car seat wheels (stroller)
I will buy:
Baby book
New bottles (but later)
Some new outfits
We had a rock n play & got a new one (our old one got moldy even though in our house!).

rock n play for sure. fisher price has a ton. i dont know if there is much difference but walmart sells for $55 and most at BRU are $75

The first thing that comes to mind, without question, are the Aden + Anais Burpy-Bibs...
It's funny. They seem so simple and so basic but they are the best things EVERRRRR. I registered for them on a whim and ended up loving them and never using any other bibs...
When the baby is first born, and for a while, they go over the shoulder as a burp-cloth. I used them in a lot of multi-purpose feeding ways when my son was first born.
Then, when they start to eat they have a SNAP -- not velcro -- a really good SNAP in the back so then it becomes a bib. I love that it covers the shoulders, it is on the longer side, and the material lasts and lasts no matter how many times you wash it.
For my son, who is turning two next month, I have used them every single day since he was born! Now, to me, THAT is getting a ton of use out of something.
I'm sorry that the pic above is only of the monkey design -- they have TONS AND TONS of patterns, designs, etc. They are adorable. I just wanted to show a pic that showed the item being used in both ways.

So, even though they aren't cheap --- knowing now that I ONLY need them would have saved me money in the long-run bc they last forever and I don't need any others.
Now, every friend or family member I have that gets pregnant - I get them a package of these as a gift. SUCH a great gift!!!

i have this and used as a burp cloth for a few months and just from washing it the snaps broke :( i was so excited for it to change to a bib later :(

i have this and used as a burp cloth for a few months and just from washing it the snaps broke :( i was so excited for it to change to a bib later :(
That's so odd! I have about a dozen of them, wash them several times a week for two years now and never had an issue losing a snap!

Love those aiden & anais burp cloths/bibs as well for food - purees through real food... For formula, I found nothing absorbed better than the Dundee mills burp cloths in BBB. 6 for $10, great price as well!
