Has anyone gone? What exactly is it, like a street fair?

DH and went to one this year. It was nice. We got there on the earlier side which was good because traffic was a nightmare. Parking could also be a challenge.
We had dinner the Irish pub at the end of the strip. It was really good.
The only thing is, is that I felt kinda old. All the "youngins"...LOL were out side drinking and listening to the music.
If it's a nice night, go for it.

Its a regular street fair with bands. In front of different restaurants/bars there a blocked off area to drink and listen to the bands. Parking gets pretty nuts.

Get there early, especially if the weather is nice. Two weeks ago, there were over 20,000 people there.

Went when they used to have it on Fridays. Pretty packed early on then dies down close to 9:00. Why did they switch to Thursday now?

They switched to Thursday because they wanted a more family friendly event. Some businesses felt having it on Friday made it a more party atmosphere.

I don't know if I 100% agree with their mentality. I feel Fridays would have more people showing up rather than on weekday. It more affects people who live far away that may want to go that most likely will skip a Thursday because of rush hour traffic then work the next day. Why not mix it up & some weeks have it on a Thursday & other weeks, have it on a Friday? ?

I think the crowds on Fridays are good already so if they can bring in tens of thousands of people on a Thursday on top of that why not. It definitely doesn't seem like attendance is suffering and if people head home a little earlier because it's a Thursday I don't think that's a bad thing.
