Kids party
how old was your child when you started having a kids party? We've always had family and close friends with kids. My daughter will turn 5 right after kindergarten starts. I wanted to have a party With kids from her class but she really wont know anyone yet. Any suggestions without breaking the bank.
****what i actually meant was......we always had parties with family and close friends kids. But now that my daughter is starting kindergarten and her birthday is right away, I don't know what to do. She doesn't know anyone yet. Do i just the girls? Wait till she gets to know other kids? Have party for 1/2 birthday?

Re: Kids party
I did the same for my DS's first bday (family, friends with their kids and without kids). For his 2nd bday we did it with close family and friends with kids only, def not as many ppl as his first bday, and we did it at Gymboree, he loved and so his little friends, oh and it wasn't nearly as expensive as his first bday.

Re: Kids party
My older ds we did kids from pre-k when he turned 5 - many were going to be going to kindergarten together. He has a late August birthday.

We did the same thing...big 1st birthday. 2nd birthday was just a cake at daycare; and we plan on doing that until kindergarten which is when we will start kids parties.

Re: Kids party
With kids - we are starting at 3, but she's in daycare and thus had a lot of kids she sees on a daily basis.
My nephew has an early September bday, and the year he entered kindergarten, my sil gave him the option of having his bday party in late October (which he did) so that he'd know who to invite and actually know the kids at his party.

my DS will be 4 in Dec and he has not had a party. He is asking for one so we are considering it but still unsure. I think they are a a waste of money.

We started my twins at their first birthday. I am part of twins club & had our twin friends. 2nd birthday home again also. I hired a clown. 3rd birthday out & upcoming 4th birthday will also be out.

Re: Kids party
We don't do them consistently. For my DS we did for his 2nd, skipped a year and will do for his 4th. For my DD we did more so every year, but not kids from school just more cousins and closer friends. Now that they are getting bigger and asking we will have them at a place. It's really whatever works for you. Our DC always has a kids birthday party--cupcakes, games, balloons the whole nine yards. I just didn't feel it was necessary to do too much more.

Re: Kids party
We started parties for friends at age two, but we have also skipped some by going on vacation as requested by the child instead of a party. Ds is eight and this year we had a boys only party. It was laser tag. As kids get older the parties change and get smaller. He was invited to every boy in his class last year for second grade, but no girl parties. I found that by second grade they split into boy and girl parties only.
