Cruise question! Need opinions!
Hi- planning to go on a cruise for the first time with family and my (will be then) 14 month old. We're only looking as cruises that have a nursery in case we want some time alone, but in between two choices.
1- a better ship, bigger, more things to do. But, only stops at 3 ports.
2- a good ship, less things to do. Stops at 5 ports.
For those who have been on a cruise before, what do you think is the better choice?

I think it all depends on what you would like to do. What do you mean "less things to do"? Are they things that are very important to you?

It really depends on what your family likes to do. Are the more things to do things you want to do or are they just offered? It would help if you gave the names of the ships as it would be easier to compare.

So, the bigger ship is the royal carribeans Allure, which has zip line, better shows- overall much bigger.
The smaller (if you can even call it small!) is Royal carribeans Freedom.
I've just never been on a cruise and unsure if we will want to spend more time on or off the ship.

Can you share the ports for each?
Some are more appealing than others.

I agree.
Personally I think port heavy cruises can be exhausting but it would really depend on the ports.

Something else to consider is the extra expense of additional ports. For our upcoming cruise each port is about $200 spending for excursion or beach days.
If I had the choice I would much rather try the Allure.

Re: Cruise question! Need opinions!
It is all personal choice. You either cruise for the ship or cruise for the ports.
I have been on a bunch of cruises, ranging from mega ships to the much much smaller ones. Personally I like the smaller ships. Coincidentally, the smaller ships seem to have the better itinerary which for me is a win-win situation since I cruise for the ports. However, when you have kids involved, the game is completely changed. The mega ships usually have more to offer for them, making your sea days much more bearable since they will have more to offer, keeping them occupied.
It all comes down to preference and what is most important to you.

Those ships are barely a comparison! They are both huge in my opinion. You cant go wrong with either !)

I've been on both - allure with no baby, liberty (same as freedom) with a 9 month old last month. Do Freedom. They have a baby splash zone which was AMAZINGGGGGGG. Fm me I can send you pics and video. Ship was perfect for our little one.
However, if you do Allure you can't go wrong either. It's s superb ship but more adventurous with things to do that are not necessarily for a 14 month old.

I have been on the Allure twice and Oasis once (sister ship) and by far, we have loved these ships more than the smaller. But...not everyone does. It all depends on what you would like to do on your vacation.

We went on the Allure last February with my then 9 month old. To be honest, there was very little for us to do with a baby at the ports. We walked around for a bit but couldn't do excursions. There is a baby splash zone on Allure also.
