Chicken pox vaccine
Does anyone's pediatrician keep running out of it?? i've been on a wait list for 3 months for ds to get it. I was told he should get it between 12-15 months...he's now 15+ months and no vaccine. I'm getting frustrated with my peds office but am wondering if this is normal or if anyone else is experiencing this

Chicken pox vaccine
That's crazy. We had no problem getting it. 15 months she was due for mmr, chicken pox and the timing of it (end of sept) flu shot. I spread them out so she got mmr and flu and at 16 months came back just for chicken pox and second dose of flu.

Chicken pox vaccine
We are past that age, but I believe there is a new requirement this year that kids of a certain school age are required to have a second dose. So maybe that is why...an influx of people trying to get it so their kids can go to, or stay in school

Children who have never had chickenpox should get 2 doses of chickenpox vaccine at these ages:
1st Dose: 12-15 months of age 2nd Dose: 4-6 years of age (may be given earlier, if at least 3 months after the 1st dose)

Maybe I have it confused with another vaccine then.

I actually delayed the vax and my DD just got her first dose at her 4 year old well visit this week. She will be going back at the end of next month to get her second dose since all kids need it before starting Kindergarten. The ped said you have to wait at least 30 days between the first and second dose.

I was told at K registration that the new state law requires TWO doses if chickenpox before they start K. we need to get it this month or she can't start K in Sept

Yes, this is what the pediatrician told me too...and they claim that is why there is a wait list. bc the kindergarteners are getting priority and they just dont have enough True or not, its frustrating that my appt got canceled bc they ran out...again.

Re: Chicken pox vaccine
DS had his 15 month well visit last week and they told me they were expecting the vaccine to be delivered that day, but it did not come in time for our visit - so he is getting it at the next well visit in 3 months.
