DD shoved a bead up her nose
Yesterday morning while 4 yr old DD was home with DH, she for some unknown bizarro reason decided to put a bead in her nostril. Long story short, he took her to ER. ER doc examined her, looked far up and could not see the bead, and concluded she 'must have swallowed it'. DD insists it didn't go into her throat. Dr says yes, she had to have swallowed it.
She was fine all day. Last night, while she was in the bath and I'm washing her face. I feel a hard nodule from the outside bridge of her nose. I take her out of the bath, and she wouldn't let me near her. I call DH in and we pin her down and ask her to blow so hard. A few blows, and out pops this huge clear bead into my hand!!!!
DD was so excited, we were all shocked!!! How did the dr miss this?! She went 12 hours with this bead lodged in her poor nose!
How would you handle this with the hospital? I'm sure the bill will be something at least 2k, for what??? He missed the bead! Would you dispute it? ER co-pay was paid to them before leaving.

I doubt you will be able to dispute anything. The copay is to be seen by a Dr in the ER - which you were. Whether or not they missed something or misdiagnosed something doesn't matter in their minds. Your insurance company pays for the visit and you pay your copay.

This. If there were any damage done by it being missed and having remained in there for hours (permanent damage) then you might have a lawsuit, but other than that, copay is due and it's valid.
