Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia - awesome for a 2 year old. On LI - Queens Zoo or Riverhead Aquarium.

I second please touch museum. We were going to go to Philly for 2 nights this spring for the zoo, museum and acquarium but I was too pregnant. Next year!

Camden Aquarium was really nice! An overnight trip to the Baltimore Habour Aquarium is a must if you can swing it!

While all these places are great, I think at not yet 2, you can get amazement from much more low key things.
I'd go to stepping stones in Norwalk, much closer than philly.
Any aquarium should be great.
Try different splash parks.
Try local farms to pick & then cook veggies.
