Staycation

My dh is off next week starting this Sunday. We have never really done a "staycation" we either go away or stay home and do tons of work on the house where you wish you were at work!

My goal is to have a fun filled week with planned activities and outings. I have a 2 year old and a 2 month old. I was thinking sesame place and the aquarium in riverhead one day. Any other fun suggestions you girls have recently visited or done?

Bronx zoo, suffolk county farm, spend a day hitting up a family friendly vinyard and a farm or two out east.

Re: Staycation

childrens museum of the east end. IMO so much better for your childs age than the one in Garden City.

Vineyards, we usually do Osprey or Pindar with the kids. We go with another family, pack lunch, buy a bottle or 2 of wine, pack stuff for the kids (soccer balls, crafts a board game or two, bubbles etc) and spend the afternoon picnic-ing

ETA: there is one out there with a small petting zoo (cant remember which one though) but that one you cant bring outside food

OMG they are wonderful!

Palmer
Macari
Martha Clara
Osprey Dominion

And check out Love Lane in Mattituck

You can bring food to the vineyards - pack lunch, snacks, bring a blanket in case there aren't chairs available. Most have live music on busy days.

You will love it! Bring cash for farm stands and such too -- along the way there are great farm stands and different merchants selling local goods.

We just did osprey on Sunday. I like that one bc there's a huge grassy field with picnic tables and umbrellas. We pack tons of food and spread out a blanket with toys for dd. Palmer is nice too and we've done the same with food and toys. I'd look for a day they're having live music too.

We just did a staycation too.
This was our schedule:
Day 1: Coney Island & NY Aquarium
Day 2: Fish Hatchery in Cold Spring Harbor, Vanderbilt Planeterium & Caumsett State Park
Day 3: Beach Day & Ducks Game
Day 4: Bronx Zoo and dinner in Little Italy in the Bronx
Day 5: Harbes Farm & Orient State Park

It was fun! I didn't cook one meal, we went out in the AM and stayed out all day!! Enjoy it!!

Re: Staycation

Brooklyn! The transit museum is amazing! And a walk down by Brooklyn bridge park. Tons of unique playgrounds and a beautiful view.

As an alternative to the Bronx Zoo is the Queens Zoo. We are planning on going there next week.

There is also the Long Island Game Farm in Manorville. This weekend they are having $2 admission.
