BBQ for Infants/Toddlers

I want to have a BBQ-playdate in our backyard for about 4 families. So there will be at least 4 kids all under the age of 3.

Any ideas for activities that will keep them occupied? We don't have a very large space and we don't want to spend extra money. So far I was just thinking the usual: balls, bubbles, chalk, crayons and paper, hula hoops and maybe megablocks on a small table. But I was hoping for something that might be a little bit different or entertaining for them.

Also-- any ideas on how to have a DIY water table? I don't want to buy one for just 1 day, wondering if there was a way I could have a makeshift water table just for the BBQ.

What about a blow up pool and get some pool toys at Five Below or a dollar store?

Most of the time they don't even care for the water toys and play with plastic cups you have in the house.

We have a water table and my dd still prefers to play with a big bowl of water and her little people figures. Also, I think they will have a great time with the stuff you mentioned. I don't think you need anything else.

Do you have someone you can borrow a water table from? We use a water table combined with the sprinkler combined with a kiddie pool (like a $7 hard plastic one) and the kids go crazy.

If you wanna do a diy water table just use a plastic sterlite container and prop it up on something. Use measuring cups from your kitchen so they can streak and pour, use little people they can swim in it

Here are some ideas they had on the Today Show (some are definitely more complicated than others, but could be fun!)
