Just booked impromtu road trip to Disney

Going last week of August.

Just me, DH and DS (6).

We aren't staying in Disney but plan to do 2 days there and maybe one at Universal.

Where do I begin?

I feel like I've been looking at stuff all day and that hasn't helped, so I remembered you ladies!

Also how does it work with fast pass, eating at Downtown Disney, etc.

fun! i would start with dining reservations if there are any of those you want? (Character meals or anything?
make an account on mydisneyexperience.com and you should be able to see whats available. This is for restaurants in the parks, AND at downtown disney. for the downtown disney ones, if you don't see anything online, try calling the restaurant directly....
Fast Pass is basically once you link your tickets on the mydisneyexperience site, you can go on their 30 days before your trip (its 60 days before if you stay onsite) and you can pick 3 rides or attractions a day to fast pass ( there are some character meet and greet and shows you can fast pass, too... so its not just rides) It is free Chat Icon a fast pass basically gives you a one hour window to go to that ride/character meeting where you can get in the shorter fast pass line instead of the regular line.

Great week to go! We go that week every other year! You can look at what reservations are available on the Disney site if you are interested.

Re: Just booked impromtu road trip to Disney

Thanks ladies!

How does it work with leaving the MK to eat at Downtown Disney?

SIL recommended the dinosaur restaurant and we are fine with going early, but reservations on two days we plan to be there are around 3pm.

(I also know they encouarge you to check a lot because people cancel).

My friend just came back yesterday and told us to head to back of park first and do those rides...

Also any tips for a long road trip in general? I want this trip to be as laid back as possible :)

Are you planning on going back to Magic Kingdom after eating at T-rex? If you are I would not waste my time going to downtown Disney. You would have to get to one of the hotels first to catch a bus to downtown Disney, so you could ride the monorail get off at the first hotel then from there you have to go to their bus station and get on the bus for downtown Disney, it will be a lot of travel if you are planning on heading back to the park. We ate there a few years ago, the food was ok we've never gone back.

Thanks for the tip!

Wouldn't want to have to deal with all that.
