Naps and outings
DD will be 22 months and still takes a very long nap in the afternoon. If she doesn't take a nap then she will be miserable. If we are out we usually plan to either be driving during that time or we bring her stroller and she will nap there and it works well. Tomorrow we are going to the beach for the first time this summer and I don't know what to do when it's nap time? We will be going to Tobay beach and I don't know if I should go back to the car and get her stroller when it's time and just walk around in the heat? I love that she takes a good nap but sometimes it gets in the way of our plans. What do you do with naps and going to the beach.
She naps anywhere between 2-5, not for that long but will go down anywhere around that time.

Do you have a tent? I used a tent for my little guy. One that had one open side so little guy could get a breeze. I'd lay him down on a sheet not the tent material
Or maybe a pack n play with an umbrella over it?

Id probably plan to go home at that time 2/3. Then she will likely sleep in the car. Or do you think dhe would actually nap in the pop up tent? My girls go down around 1 and sleep from 1-3:30ish. It sucks bc we can't do much in the afternoon. But if we are out they are occupied. They will sometimes just get a half hr nap and are good. If cranky later I just put them down to bed earlier.

I never switched my schedule for ds. He either slept where we were or he got cranky at some point and we dealt with it. At the beach I would put a blanket down under an umbrella. My parents did it with us back in the day and I do it with my son if he'll sleep. No need to lug a tent imo- umbrella works just as good.

Weekends are a free for all. We don't revolve our days around naps when we are out and about. Your dd will fall asleep in the car on the way home.

Naps and outings
My son has no interest in napping when we are at the beach. He wants to run around and play. He sleeps in the car on the way home and we take ocean parkway all the way down so he can sleep. He's usually asleep before we leave the Parking lot

same for us. If he is really tired, he will fall asleep at some point wherever we are, or in the car to or from. If we make plans, we do not change the schedule for naps, never have since he was born and don't plan to for #2 either.

DD is the same age and goes down for her nap between 12:30-1:30 and naps for 2-3 hrs. She is in a much better mood when she naps, so as inconvenient as it is, I usually structure my day around her nap. So in the case you described, I would probably hit the beach early and then leave around 2.

Same here. We've done that since birth. It just works for us. Our weekly plans are constantly changing. If we had to stick to a schedule, we'd never do anything. We need flexibility.

This! We usually try to get to the beach early, and once the kids get too grumpy, we head out so they can nap in the car. Neither kid would ever nap in the little tent. Too much fun being had all around for that.

I usually go somewhere early & make sure we are home at that time. Go at like 9-2 or go out after nap

I also structured the day around naps too. Under the age of 2 1/2 I was always home for nap time. After 2 1/2 I could get away with skipping a nap.

We never had schedules either. My ds goes with the flow now because of it.
