Octopus party ideas: calling crafty moms!
I have looked at pinterest, but I'm not at all crafty & will be very, very pregnant for my son's 5th birthday.
He wants a Colossal squid & whale party. Been talking about it for months.
My plans:
I can get whale balloons & probably octopus balloons (they will do).
I can get a fudgie the whale cake & place his squid "attacking" it or a cake with squid vs whale printed on it.
I will order some grilled octopus for part of the meal & the rest do grill in our yard/catered.
BUT: I need more ideas: we will have around 10 kids there (ages 2-8): how do we entertain them? I can hire entertainment, BUT it doesn't exactly "go" with the theme. And... what if it rains (and we are indoors)?
Don't want to do "too much" just in case we cancel due to labor.
HELP!!!!

Pin the legs on the octopus, water squirters for a "whale of a water fight", lots of streamers as tentacles. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Maybe pool noodles as favors?
If you don't mind the mess, maybe a giant whale or octopus for them all to paint with finger paints. And I've seen octopus sprinklers

Print out some thing for everyone to color
Styrofoam balls. Some
Pipe
Cleaners. Markers and google ees and everyone can make a octopus

Have a coloring station: Provide an assortment of crayons/markers/colored pencils and put out print-outs/papers to color on with the theme or plain paper with real pictures displayed for inspiration for them to draw on their own.
Pin the tail on the whale
making an octopus out of yarn is fun.
the activities don't all need to be themed.

Thanks so much, creative mamas!
I love it: I think we are set (hopefully it is outside).
Will set up a craft table & do some of these.
I hope we can have a water fight & use sprinklers (but my luck calls for about 100% chance of rain).
