Speaking of social experiments....(date rape related)
Take a look at this one.
Even if it's staged, it still goes to show you how easy it is to have your drink drugged if you aren't very careful when out at bars, etc.

This happened to me... just this January.
Wow. I have actually never talked about it.
If it wasn't for my friend James, I would have been assaulted for sure.
But he was with me and when I got drugged, I passed out, and he cared for me and took me to the hospital, etc. It was bad. But I'm lucky it wasn't far, far worse.
We were all at a bar - it was EXTREMELY crowded. Everyone was arm to arm. I was with James but I came in alone - we met there, after work one night late. His friends were there too but they were leaving as I came, I came late. He's a detective, was armed, and very aware - thank GOD. I had a cosmo. I put it on the bar, he said something to me and I turned to talk to him and look at him - left the cosmo ON the bar, and yes I know better but I did a stupid thing, because it was so full to the top I didn't want it spilling on my hands. How dumb. That was the reason I didn't hold it. And AT SOME POINT in the next 45 minutes or so, it was drugged. And I started to feel dizzy, hot, I asked James to take me outside. He asked if I was OK, and that's the last thing I recall... until about five hours later. In the hospital. With him. Thank God for him.
Sheesh I have never shared this and now I'm like maybe I shouldn't but I don't know why it would matter. Maybe it's better to talk about it so people are aware and my story will help someone else.
I told my sister and mom, obviously. My boyfriend was VERY upset. He was at work that night otherwise he would have been there.
ETA -- don't make the mistake I did. I got lucky but what I did was a dumb thing by leaving that drink on the bar and I *DO* know better. That's the sad part! I'm embarrassed, actually.

Thanks for sharing! It's a good wake up call.
You are still like, breathing, but you are not awake -- you know what I mean? It's exactly like what happens if you drink way too much and pass out for the night or for a few hours. It feels like that, in a way! And you wake up feeling hung over too. So yeah. And he was like what the fuuuck??? at first because he's like she only had one drink -- he's like HOW could she be this drunk?? That's what he figured at first but then he was like wait a minute, and realized. He felt SO bad because it was his idea to go to that hole in the wall place and when I got there it was shady looking, honestly, and he's like I'm sorry! I know it's a dive! And i'm like nah it's fine! So yeah. It was like four or so hours - I woke up in the hospital with him. They knew right away what had happened to me. The hospital staff, he said, were SO blah about it like they see it a lot!! They gave me an IV and evaluated me and let me "sleep it off" as they put it. Crazy. They looked at him like accusatory! And he showed his badge and he's like NO, I'm her friend. Then they wanted to launch an investigation - police reports and all, ugh a mess. I was very embarrassed actually. I still feel a lot of shame and I don't know why!! I shouldn't. I mean, it happens but you feel SO embarrassed. They also had a doc examine me to make sure I wasn't -- you know -- down there -- like, messed with. Which was SO upsetting but like any other typical gyno type visit. And he knew right away I was totally fine. They also make you pee into a cup to do tests to determine which of the common date-rape drugs you were "roofied" with.
I knew right away it was fine when I woke up because I had the MOST INTRICATE and lacy fancy pair of panties on that night under my jeans and tucked all perfectly and when I woke up -- NOT AN INCH OF FABRIC out of place on them. Like, you would KNOW if someone moved those a hair, especially because the jeans are SUPER tight and you aren't getting those off and back on the way I had them -- all perfect so there's no visible panty line and wedgy lolol. So, that was interesting, actually.
Now I know why people who are raped and stuff don't report it. You do feel really, really ashamed.

Dani, thank God you were ok and your friend was by your side when it hit you.
You never think it can happen to you but by watching that video, you can see how quickly the drug was dropped in. Definitely terrifying & eye opening.

And that first girl asked her friend to 'watch her drink" when she went to the bathroom.
And he turned his back right on it.

No. Meaning. The bartender gave me the Cosmo. I sipped it and James said something to me so I turned to look at him and it was SO JAMMED in there that James was behind me and I am right up at the bar. So my drink was to the BRIM. And it was kind of spilling and those martini glasses are so hard to hold without spilling. So I set it down after taking a sip. And when he spoke to me I turned around to face him, 180, and then my back was to the bar. Drink was down on the bar right behind my back. (Mistake). We talked for about 40-45 minutes during that time, in the same position. And I would turn from time to time and take another sip of the drink. And then back to talk to him. And there were men all around me. Literally ARM TO ARM like touching! It was so crowded. And that was that. At some point during that time from when I got my drink to when I started to feel all hot, sweaty and dizzy was like 40-45 minutes and I had only had about a little more than half the Cosmo. So I said to James OMG I don't feel good. I feel sick. It was like zero to a hundred in a minute. Before he could say, wait you barely drank anything how could you be drunk? I was like get me outside bc it was January and I was so hot all of a sudden. So he did, he walked with me out... THANK GOD because whoever did this was prob then waiting for me to leave. And since I arrived alone they figured I was a good target bc I would leave alone. I was meeting people, all of whom came separate. Anyway, the second we got outside, I remember stepping over a little mound of snow, grabbing James' hand and that was it. Black.

Tests came back positive for Rohypnol. Learned that night that is where they get the term "roophie"... They had a lady at the ER, an RN, who knew all about it and was like the "expert" there. She told me that about 1 in 5 women have this happen to them in their lifetime. I was just lucky it ended in that and not what the usual outcome is.
ETA - the nurse and doc told me the most common date rape drug is simply alcohol. Bc a hefty amount of alcohol can cause all of the same symptoms and results! Which is scary! Because alcohol is so common and people drink it thinking they'll be fine ya know?!
