Baby #2 - what do I need/need to do?

I'm just about to enter my third trimester and I feel this is our poor neglected second child already! I've been so busy running after my little guy, trying to keep a functioning household and balance being a FTWM that I have barely had time to acknowledge that we are adding a new family member in a few months!

So what do I need to prepare for this baby?! So far we've ordered furniture... and that's about it. We're staying team green so I'm not super worried about getting the actual nursery fully decorated or anything, but I want to make sure we're ready to welcome this baby like we were for our DS.

Any check lists or tips to share? Any must-have or recommended items to buy when going from one to two kids? DS will be 21 months when he becomes a big brother if that helps. Thanks everyone!!!

I am totally with you and I'm due in 11 days!

Got the bassinet, washed some clothing, have some diapers/wipes. Got pads for myself and my hospital bag is done.

Still want to get the car washed and clean the infant seat and install the bases.

Still want to get DS a gift from his brother or sister (going to Barnes and Nobles probably)

One thing i did was visit a car seat installation specialist. We didnt feel like the seats were secure enough when we put them in. They ended up spending about 30 minutes on each car since they werent input properly.

I did buy new strollers- only because our Uppa Baby was extremely gross. No matter how many times i washed it, it smelled a little funky.

We bought a new rock and play, changing pad, bedding set, tub, sound machine, diaper pail, swaddles , wash clothes...

I still have to get a couple of big items(car seat etc), diapers and wipes(waiting until mid July to get that), but have everything else.

I have to wash the bassinet and rock and play fabrics since it's been in my attic for the past year. Other than that we are good to go.

Get a baby book, stock up on stamps and thank you cards, make arrangements and back up arrangements for your older kids. Get a big brother or big sister gift. Check with your insurance about getting a new pump if you plan to bf.

Seriously, we did very little:
-Installed car seat base & moved other carseat (this is so easy).
-Got pack & play out of bag in attic (we use it as a bassinet). Washed it.
-Washed coming home outfit.
-Saved rest of washing until after baby was born (ended up returning some stuff).
-Got crib & moved it into the "nursery". Moved DS's crib over (they share a room).

For baby #3, the BIG thing was setting up childcare arrangements for after I go to work. Will repeat above.

In he same boat but with 7 weeks to go. The room is finally empty, I just want the furniture in so we can start taking things down from attic and washing stuff and have place to put it. I am gonna boil bottles and binkies and stuff so we have that read. binkies soon, so i can put them in hospital bag.

In the next week we will get rock and play, swing, etc out so i can wash the linings and put them in LO's closet until he arrives.

We were so much more prepared last time. I will probably buy a small thing of NB diapers and then a big pack of size 1. I hate to buy too much cause DS was growing out of them so fast until he hit size 5, we would have ended up wasting them.

i also bought new nipples and new binkies already1

I am due in 3.5 weeks. I washed, organized and put away 0-3 clothes, washed the RNP cover, Took out our baby swing and bouncer from storage. Because I am formula feeding I also picked up a box of 2 oz nursettes to use when coming home from the hospital (didn't buy too much just in case baby doesn't take to it). Bought some pacifiers since the hospital does not give them out and a box of size 1 diapers & wipes.

Still have to pack hospital bag (will do that this weekend) and install the infant car seat base into our cars.

I'm with you. I'm due in 2 weeks. This is what I did so far:

Bought new binkies, bottles, nipples, towels, onesies, burp cloths, Boppy changing table liners, a bottle drying rack and baby mittens.

Got diapers, wipes and vaseline. Also stocked up on some formula.

Cleaned/washed the bouncy seat, car seat, bassinet for uppababy and the mamaroo cover.

Buying thank yous and stamps is a great idea. I still have to buy another camera for the monitor. I have to charge my video camera.

And I just learned yesterday that I need to buy a gift from the baby to DS. Isn't unconditional sibling love enough? Chat Icon

Love it!

This would confuse the crap out of my kids.

They would be like "how did the BABY INSIDE your tummy go to the store and buy us something?"

Creepy!

I'm skipping this one.

Re: Baby #2 - what do I need/need to do?

I'm due in 3 weeks! We only just started getting things done.

I got new furniture and crib mattress
Bottles bc I'm changing from what I used for the girls.
Bottle brushes
Diaper genie
Changing pad covers (had an extra pad from someone)
Bibs and Burp cloths

Things to do:
New car seats for the girls bc we needed to fit 3 so we need to install all 3. (Have the infant seat for baby already).

Put swing, rnp, pnp together and bring down nb clothes from attic to wash.

These will all be added to my list - super helpful!! I know it's not rocket science but I can barely get my thoughts together on a daily basis to focus long enough to create my list. This is a great great help - love the suggestions!
