Waldorf Astoria Orlando
Considering for our next Disney trip in November. Anyone have any experience?
ETA: Any feedback on busses to park. Curious where exactly they drop you off at parks.

Re: Waldorf Astoria Orlando
I have not been personally but our friends were recently raving about the Waldorf in Orlando. They are not Disney people. They said they had an amazing vacation there and did just one day at Disney. I think we may go that route the next time we go to Florida.

When we do Orlando or Disney we always stay at JW Marriott or Ritz Carlton. Both hotels share the property, and you can use amenities at either one. Just another option if you're considering higher end hotels.

Same here. Was blown away by Ritz on our last trip. Loved the Marriott pool. I think we spent 2-3 full days just enjoying the hotels.
Have had good experiences at waldorfs but have not stayed at this one.
Shuttle services typically drop you off at a bus terminal area. You walk a bit & then take monorail to park. No problems using them from other hotels. Once, I missed the shuttle back & had to get a cab. That wasn't too bad either.

Ritz Orlando looks fabulous! I think we will have to stay there next. Our kids are finally old enough for Ritz Kids.
We stayed at the Four Seasons Orlando on our last trip and it was amazing. I think their pool was the nicest we have ever seen.

Wow, just looked at the Four Seasons. Looks amazing! Now THAT is how I would do Disney. The Ritz or the Four Seasons. That would definitely make it more tolerable! LOL

Yes, stay at a luxury resort and do a day at the parks. You don't need to spend all day at the parks either, just a few hours. You could also squeeze in a resort character meal and not be rushed. Sounds like an awesome vacation.
I drank the Disney Kool-Aid but DH is Disney-ed out. He said he can't ride the Dumbo or Toy Story ride one more time. haha
We still have one ticket left that is about to expire. We skipped Disney parks altogether the last time we went to Florida.
I think we will do Ritz the next time we go and maybe do one of those themed parties like Halloween only.

This does look beautiful. We are planning on doing 4 theme parks in 4 days so I like the idea of being closer to the parks.

Waldorf Astoria Orlando
We are staying at the Waldorf next February. I am hoping to sign up for the princess half marathon, but we don't want a total Disney trip. We may do one day at disney. My 3 yo wants to go to legoland and my older boys are begging to go back to universal. I would just like a luxurious hotel to relax at. We stayed at the Ritz for a night before a cruise once and loved it. It is a little far from Disney for a 5am race which is why I chose the Waldorf this time. I understand it is next door from the Hilton and you can use their pool, which has a lazy river and water slide that look really fun.

The ritz was truly fabulous with great service too. Like PP mentioned, do the park and spend time at the hotel property, the service was excellent. We reserved a cabana poolside and had the food & drinks flowing non stop. Also, another time we stayed there, they forgot to put a crib in the room, and felt bad and comped us a night for free. Again, excellent service. Those hotels are what make going to Disney bearable, as we are not overly keen on parks. Another hotel we've stayed at which Is decent too, is Gaylord Palms. They have a ton of activities, restaurants, nice grounds & pools and it's VERY reasonably priced.

Re: Waldorf Astoria Orlando
We stayed at the Waldorf this past May in the Chairman's Suite.
We did the shuttle bus to the Magic Kingdom on the first day. Going to the park didn't seem too bad, but going back to the hotel felt like it took forever so we drove and parked at the parks after that. It was so much quicker and easier, although obviously it costs for parking.
My kids had more fun in the pool than they did at WDW. (Gatorland was another highlight of our trip! )
I have to say it was a really convenient hotel in that it was close to all the parks. Staff were great, but that's to be expected.

Have you used the bus system at Disney resorts? Curious how it compares. What made trip back to hotel seem so long? We're there several stops?

I don't know what the bus system at the Disney resorts is? We're WDW newbies (and not really into the whole WDW thing, which is why we opted for the Waldorf.)
We used the Waldorf/Hilton shuttle bus. Going to the MK wasn't so bad because we didn't have as many stops on the way to, plus we weren't exhausted/anxious to get back to the room. They drop you off at ground transportation area and you just hop on the tram to the MK. (Same tram if you park too.) I think the MK must have been one of the first stops because we were only on the bus for 20 minutes or so.
Going back to the hotel took at least 40 minutes when it's less than a 15 minute drive from the hotel to any of the parks. (Might even be less than 10 minutes.) The shuttle wasn't crowded or anything, but they had to pick up people from the other parks so it just adds to the time when you just want to get back to chill. If you intend to drink, then it's great, but for us it wasn't worth it.
