Potty training question

When do I switch to big girl undies? 2 yr old dd had decided she is ready for potty training. She wet 3 diapers today but used the potty the entire rest of the time. Daycare is taking her every 20 minutes and we are continuing the same. We just bought pull ups. I'm a complete newbie so I'm clueless. I thought we had more time but dd has decided.

Same here. I switched to undies the first day and never went back but she was 3 and more than ready. We stayed home a few days and then were back to business as usual. I did put some waterproof chucks between two sheets in case she had an accident in bed but she's woken up dry for a long time before that.

Same! My dd was in daycare. I just brought a ton of extra underwear and pants in.

She said no diapers and pulled hers off then climbed on the potty. I'm not kidding.

For the past 2 weeks though she has been very adamant about telling us when she pees and poops. She always asks to sit on the potty and if I go to the bathroom she immediately wants to sit too.

I'm going to ask daycare about underwear on Mon just so I know their protocol.

Re: Potty training question

If your DD has to be taken to the potty every 20 minutes, she's not potty trained. She's not ready for undies yet.

Potty trained means she knows when she has to go and she takes herself, or tells you so you can take her. And if she needs to hold it (i.e., you're in the car or at a store), she can hold it. She'll be going once every 2 hours or so.

She's showing interest and initiative, but she's not there yet. She's very little. No need to rush this.

ETA: if you really do think she's ready, ditch the pull-ups. Put her in undies. Don't take her to the potty; wait until she tells you she has to go. See if she pees through the undies or not. Some kids will, some won't. You won't know if she's ready until you try.

I wish mine did this! Whenever he poops and I ask him "did u poo in the diaper?" He says "no" while looking away, cause he hates when I change his diaper Chat Icon

Lol. Mine looked at potty and said peepee. 23 months.
She trained in a day. I think the mental connection & ability to communicate just have to be there.
