Fussy, not sleeping well...what could it be?
DD is 8mths and for the past few days has been fussy, clingy, not eating very well..she has no teeth yet...do you think its teething or something else?
She doesnt have a fever but is just "off" these past few days.
I am debating taking her to the ped but maybe I should.
She is chewing on everything but then again she has been doing that since she was 3mths old so no change there.
She doesnt have red cheeks or anthing...
Agggggggggggghh..
Any ideas?

Could be an ear infection. Is she especially whiny/upset when she is lying down? I would call the ped. if she doesn't seem to be improving.

Does she have diaper rash? I ask because that is a sign of teething. The saliva from hands and everything else going into their mouths causes the poo to be acidic, which causes diaper rash.
I hope your DD feels better soon.

Re: Fussy, not sleeping well...what could it be?
It could definately be teething. Try to get a good look at her gums or stick your finger in there and feel them. Do they feel swollen or do you see any white on the gums?
When we had this problem we would give our daughter Hylan's Teething Tablets right before she went to sleep.
Also babies go through spurts with teething and I've found that they go along with milestones. So if she has recently started doing something new, or is experiencing seperation anxiety, that can be it too!

I h ave tried the hylands too and they seem to give her some relief but short term.
The thing I am wondering is she is okay when I Am holding her but the minute I put her down she is fussy. So could she be sick if she is okay while I am hoding her?

Re: Fussy, not sleeping well...what could it be?
It sounds like it could be seperation anxiety too. We went through something similar at that age. Unfortunately she had a lot of colds at that age too but I do think that the seperation anxiety had a lot to do with it.
A few times I had to resport to letting her CIO even though I hate doing that. She only cried for a few minutes though -- and then passed out. But if I kept going into her or taking her out when she was upset she'd never go to sleep.
Does she have a lovie or a dollie or something that she uses to comfort her?

Re: Fussy, not sleeping well...what could it be?
Thanks Melissa...unfortunately her lovey is me ...she isnt attached to any toys at all...I am her only attachment! She has been learning how to sit up from a lying down position and is ready to crawl so that whole thing might be confusing her.
I think I will ride it out for a few hours and see how it goes...
Thanks

Also it was about 8 months that Emily started getting attached to her dollie. She always had the doll in her crib but at around 8 months we started using it so that she'd have something (other then our arms as we were laying her down) to hug and grab onto.
I don't know if you want to start a habit that isn't already there but it might help -- especially if you slept with it for a night or two so that it would smell like you first.
