Freewheel cell phone
Has anyone switched to this? I am so tired of paying ridiculous cell phone rates that $9.99 sounds amazing to me. Just curious if anyone has any info on it!!!

Freewheel cell phone
It's not practical for most people. It only works on wifi. I was talking to a cablevision employee - he even said its not good.

I can't imagine that it is just as good as a regular cell phone. I connect to Wifi when out and it is spotty at best (Optimum). I wouldn't think it could do the same job as a regular cell.

I was looking into it, and I just don't think it's a good idea because you need to connect to WiFi to access it.

I would not want to rely on wi-fi to make a call. Especially when traveling or in an emergency. Try Straight Talk. It's not $9.99, I pay $45 a month, but have unlimited everything, and it runs off Verizon towers.

Re: Freewheel cell phone
I can barely get on cables wifi when going online with my cell. I wouldn't trust it. My luck I'd be out somewhere there was no wifi and need to make a call. You might as well switch to a cheaper one like t mobile that isn't that bad but not great either.

Re: Freewheel cell phone
I actually have one and think it will allow you to call 911 in an emergency. I also think there's a way to set it up to go on roaming but you can receive significant charges.
I do have an old school cell phone as a back up though from work.
I may get rid of this though because DH and my MIL have tried to get in touch with me when I was driving and have gotten pissed that I had no connection.
It also doesn't work in everyone's house and in some public places due to limited wifi service.
ETA: you also have to buy their phone. I think that cost around $100.00.
I am sure like with everything optimum the price is going to jump for customers.
