Need recommendations for kid-free getaway

Our 10 year anniversary is at the end of September. I'd love to go away for 3 nights in either late September or October. I like the idea of a beach, but DH isn't a big fan of lounging around. I'm really open to anything. Anywhere that we can sleep in and relax sounds great. I'd like to go somewhere within driving distance (we're in CT) or a short plane ride. I'd consider somewhere tropical, but am concerned about hurricane season. Any recommendations on where to go?

Definitely not a beach, but it can be both relaxing & active for the both of you.

We love Equinox Resort & Spa in Manchester Village, VT

The spa there is great, shopping nearby, excellent restaurants. Hiking and other outdoor activities too.

Granted it'll be peak time, so it will not only be beautiful it may also be $$$$ and crowded.

our 10 year anniversary is the end of june... and we're heading in like 10 days to Charleston, SC for a kid free getaway we've never been there before... but heard good things. lots of good restaurants, a few beaches close by, plantations to tour, stuff like that... just sounded like a neat place to spend a couple days.... we're flying out of Philly (bc we'll be dropping DS off with my parents who live hear there)... and its like 9 minute flight or so...
