Museum of Natural History and Central Park Zoo question
We are taking the kids to both tomorrow, Ive never been to the CPZ, what can I expect, how much time will we need? Can you walk from the museum to the zoo or is it too far into the park?

Museum of Natural History and Central Park Zoo question
The zoo is on the east side of the park and the museum is on the west, so it's pretty far. The zoo is not that big so you won't spend too much time there, maybe two hours - definitely time to do both the zoo and museum. You could walk from the zoo to the museum but depending upon the age of your DC, it might be a bit far for them (especially because they will have to walk around the zoo and museum too).

Thanks, I didnt know where in the park the zoo was in relation to the museum! That is exactly what I needed to know. We are driving in bc the train skeeves me out, LOL, so I guess itll be easier to do the museum and then drive closer to the zoo. Kids are 7 and 3, so Im sure they would never make it walking, not without a lot of complaining.

I would drive to the museum (you can park in the building) then drive over to the zoo. You might be able to find street parking a few blocks away from the zoo.

How old are your kids? Mine would never have it in them to do both. They're 3 & 5.

I agree. I have done both several times and I would never do both in the same day. Kind of pointless because it will just be a blur. Better to fully enjoy each on separate days in my opinion. Even parking twice and the extra driving is annoying. There is so much to do in the zoo area and u could take them out to eat etc. and you could easily spend the day at the museum and do a show etc. I have a 7.5 and 5 yr old.
Sorry can't seem to fix the total quote on my phine

Museum of Natural History and Central Park Zoo question
I remember when I was a teenager we walked through Central Park to get from one to the other, but my dad knew the park really well so it didn't feel like a long walk. We just cut right through. Then a few years later, I went with dh (then my bf) and I told him it would be easy to walk through the park. Yeah... We got lost... And ended up seeing A LOT of Central Park before we finally came out on the other side but that was before smart phones with gps.

Kids are 3 and 7. We actually did both today and had a blast, kids loved it and were great. Got to the museum a little after 10. We stayed for 3 hours, then stopped and had lunch got to the zoo around 2:30 and then were done by 4:30. Had a blast, it was such a beautiful day for the zoo!
