Preschool Teacher Gifts
DD1 is in preschool 5 days a week from 9-1 (3 year old class). School started mid-September and ends on June 11, so not even a full school year. We gave a class holiday gift.
The class moms sent an email that for the two teachers they are collecting $100 ($50 each). That seems crazy to me, and I want to send in $50 total. Is it me or is $100 a lot? Would it be wrong of me to send in $50?

Yes that seems like a lot to me, especially since there are multiple kids in the class, so these teachers will be making off with a lot of $! Plus i'm sure not everyone can afford that much.

The school is in great neck, so everyone can afford it (except us!)

That seems excessive. Especially if combined with however many moms in the class. Our school is in Dix Hills and that seems like a lot.

That's way too much. We chip in $20 per family.

Re: Preschool Teacher Gifts
as a teacher I find that extremely excessive, do they plan on giving the teacher the cash or buying a gift, is this considered a wealthy area that they think all the parents can afford this

What? $100 from each family? Is there a job opening lol? We collected $5 from her class for teacher appreciation and they got a sect gift. That's insane

Are you sure she doesn't mean $100 from ALL the kids?

Re: Preschool Teacher Gifts
Our school used to collect an insane amount (and it was slightly less than what you posted).
This year, they sent an email saying the school itself stopped allowing collections.
I think it's arranged by the class parent (who can be insane).
Eta: I just sent in less $$. A bit more than half what they asked for.

Re: Preschool Teacher Gifts
I just sent in $50 for the of year gifts. I think $50 should be more then enough of a contribution.

Re: Preschool Teacher Gifts
Now I would and have given her teacher's $100 for Christmas. IF they were the only teacher in the room and IF they were exceptionally wonderful to my DD.
And when DD graduates pre K in June (and her daycare which she has been at since 8 wks old) I do plan to give the teacher and individual gift of about $100
HOWEVER- if they are collecting $100 from the WHOLE class, what are they planning on buying the teacher? A Louis Vuitton?

Preschool Teacher Gifts
Sept to june is a full school year. I plan on spending about $50 each teacher. I personally feel they did an amazing job all year with my dd. Shes there 3 days a week. They made our first school experience a positive one. My dd learned a lot. She adores them. They have been amazing to me. I have it to spend so im going to.
If you dont have it you dont have it. Its the thought that counts so you do what you can. Look on pinterest and present it really nicely thats always a nice touch and personalizes it. I plan to do that as well.
