Re: Travel
Absolutely go. You have to always remember that YOU and your DH came first as a couple and it's very important to celebrate that. If you have someone you trust to watch your kids you should feel no guilt whatsoever in celebrating a major marriage milestone.
We go away for our anniversary, I feel very strongly about giving us some time to be "us" again. Our kids are under 4.

Yup, we have done it numerous times. We flew to Vegas for a wedding, when I was pregnant with dd2, dd1 was 2. We've gone away overnight I few times. We were living in Utah at one point, dd1 was just maybe 2 months old, I flew to NY for my BFF 30th bday, left her with dh.
Point being, I don't let them stop me. I need time for me, and with dh. As long as you trust the people the kids are with, I say go for it. It recharges you!!!!

Re: Travel
We have been going away for years (my oldest is 8.5, younger one 5). It started small with one night to Foxwoods or the shore. As they got older, our trips got a little longer. Now we do weekends a couple times a year and try to do one 4 night trip somewhere good.

Re: Travel
I don't... But that's because we both work & are away from home so much.
We are spending our first night away from kids in Manhattan while DS is almost 5... Mostly because our sitter is moving soon & we don't know when we will have this opportunity again.

When DD was 6 months old we went to Vegas to celebrate my 30th. We had so much fun and I'm glad we did it. DD was perfectly fine :)

If I had someone I trusted to watch them for more than a night or 2 I'd go.

Re: Travel
No, I would not. We have stayed in NYC a couple of times for anniversaries or birthdays and I've gone out east with my friends the past three summers. DH and I are also planning a trip to Newport for a few nights this summer, but we cannot bring ourselves to get on a plane and fly far away without them at this point (none are babies even). We don't want to anyway.

we're doing it in a couple weeks! :-O its our 10 year anniversary, too... and we're leaving DS (he's 4.5 years ) with my parents for 4 nights/5 days. we're going to charleston, SC... so we're still on the east coast. we thought about driving- but flying just gives us a lot more time down there! not gonna lie- i'm NERVOUS!!!! we adopted DS almost 3 years ago- and we've never been away from him for even a night since he's been here. i'm also a SAHM and with him ALL the time- except about 7 hours a week (while he's in preschool) so its gonna be WEIRD!!! BUT i know he'll have a blast with my parents... and DH and i NEED this time away together- it will be good for everybody. i just think you can't live life thinking " what if"- just do it and have fun!

I would fly but my husband and i take separate flights to everything. After we did our will, we implemented this. I actually got this idea from my boss who travels separately from his own family (they each book a different flight).

Re: Travel
I would go away but I have a fear of flying without DD. Like both me and DH on the same plane. Ugh. We will do it one day but just can't now. I am a freak like that though.
