If your child needed ear tubes
What was the determing factor for the ent to recommend tubes?
How old was your child and how did they handle the surgery?
Was it successful?
Did your ent advise your child to wear ear plugs in a swimming pool?
TIA

Re: If your child needed ear tubes
My dd had reoccuring ear infections that wouldn't clear and fluid in her ears the Ent said antibiotics weren't going to work and she needed tubes. She got tubes in her ears at 16 months. Operation was so quick less than 20 minutes and she did amazing. Best decision we ever Made. Ear infections stopped, her speech took off and she finally started sttn. She never wore ear plugs for swimming or baths.

So happy to hear this. Thank you for sharing. Ds is 14m and has had about 10-12 ear infections. This last one didn't clear up with 10 days of antibiotics and he has fluid in his ears all the time. We go back to ENT next week and I know he is going to suggest tubes. Just wanted some info from moms who have been through it. So thank you

Re: If your child needed ear tubes
My ds has tubes put in at 8 months, kept getting recurring ear infections, fluid in his ears, and kept failing hearing tests.
about a year later once the tubes fell out, he started getting ear infections again, fluid in his ear and failing hearing tests again..sooo we got a 2nd set of tubes and had his adenoids removed.
He will be 3 this month and it seemed to do the trick. He's doing great!

Re: If your child needed ear tubes
both my boys had tubes put in their ears.
ds#2 was 15 months at the time. He only had 1 ear infection, but he had fluid in the ears for months that didn't clear up on his own. So it need to be done. He was very groggy and slept a lot. By the afternoon he was completely back to normal.
ds#1 was 5 years old but he also had his tonsils and adenoids removed at the same time. He turned out to have fluid as well in his ear.
We were told swimming was fine. Just not at the bay.

My one year old is getting tubes next week. He has had reoccurring ear infections always has fluid. I hope the tubes will help with the fluid but he is the worst sleeper the ent said it will help with that
