Anyone Deliver at Katz LIJ...
But live in Suffolk..I live in Lindenhurst and my parents live in Islip. I delivered DD at Southside but wasn't thrilled with them. I am having this baby at Katz and switched OB's but my parents have grumbled about the distance of the hospital and now I am worried if it is to far. I will most likely have a schedule c-section but now I am second guessing my decision...

I had both my kids at Katz LIJ in new hyde park- i cannot compare it to any other hospital but will say i had amazing experiences both times; i dont think you will regret your decision. I believe lindenhurst is 35 mins away or so which isnt terrible. if you are a scheduled c-section you dont have much to worry about in terms of driving there...and if you go into labor on your own, i still think you can make it there with plenty of time to spare

I also live on the south Shore but a little closer. I had a scheduled c-section so it was no big deal getting there. I was more nervous because I worked in Brooklyn at the time! My parents live in Rockland County so it was far for them. My in-laws live about 10 min from LIJ. It's a great hospital though. It's not like your parents have to travel there every day so I wouldn't worry too much.

I just delivered there on the 6th and I also live in Lindenhurst. I love the hospital. I had ds1 there also. Yes it is a little further than good sam or south side but I didn't care. People still came to see me and if they felt it was too far than I guess they didnt. I dont think you should question yourself it is a great hospital.

Anyone Deliver at Katz LIJ...
I live in Massapequa, not far from Lindenhurst, and I delivered at Katz LIJ. My SIL's sister delivered @ Southside right before me, and my SIL kept taking pictures to show her the difference - I was told that Katz was like a hotel and Southside was like a 3rd world country, they had so many issues.
ETA: I work in Smithtown. I ended up being sent over after one of my weekly OB appointments and induced (and eventual c-section 3 days later).

Thanks Ladies..and Jess I agree withthat assessment and although the nurses were very nice I was completely unimpressed with the facilities, rooms, L&D staff etc...

Yeah, I felt so bad when she said that. I was there for 7 nights, and it was so clean, so friendly, and the NICU is amazing. Their LC's (if you plan on BFing, which they by no means force, but if you say "i want to bf" they will help you in any way they can).

Anyone Deliver at Katz LIJ...
I delivered at Southside and didn't hate it.. I have some complaints (room size, noise level, shared bathroom) and some positives (my nurses were AMAZING, it was clean, my food was great)
I switched from an OB who delivered out of Katz, only because I moved and was scared of that drive.. As I was reading reviews I was upset with my decision to switch doctors..
BUT when I went into labor I was so extremely grateful that I switched bc I was in entirely too much pain to be sitting in the car for 40 minutes and my DD also flew out.. I had her 15 minutes after getting to Southside.. I would have delivered in my car.
