Quick 2 night trip with kids
Looking into doing a two night trip in the end of June. Kids will be 6 and 8. Trying to get some ideas of a quick trip not crazy expensive instead of a birthday party.
Hershey Great Adventure Any other suggestions for that age group?
Hotel suggestions? Other than the Hershey hotel or lodge.
Trying to keep costs down, but would like a safe, very clean place. Many hotels seems to be almost $350-400 a night. Seems cheaper to get a hotel at Disney.
Can you do Hershey in 2 nights?
Are they too old for Dutch wonderland? Other than hotel Edan what other one would you suggest?
Could you do one day Dutch wonderland one day Hershey in a two night trip?
Never been to any of them so looking for some opinions.

Re: Quick 2 night trip with kids
I'm not a fan of Great Adventure at all. It just doesn't seem to be a "family" environment to me at all. Granted we only went once, years ago. Maybe it's changed, but it still doesn't appeal to me.
We love Hershey and Dutch. I think Dutch is still fine for those ages, and it's so small and compact. My son is a teenager and can still go on a lot of the rides there, and enjoys it. As did my DD last time we went (she was 6 or 7).
Hershey is great, but huge. More thrill rides, water park gets super crowded, but you should be okay at the end of June IF you do a weekday. I would avoid that place on the weekends. I think you need 2 days for Hershey to make the most of it to be honest. I wouldn't split 1 day at Dutch, one at Hershey though. They are a bit of a drive from each other. Plus you wouldn't get to take advantage of their free preview. I would probably do this
Day 1 get to hotel, swim, then go to preview Day 2 full day at park Day 3 most of the day at park and drive home IF you can't stay another night.
We have stayed at several places in the area. The Marriott Residence Inn in Harrisburg/Hershey is good. Full kitchens, free breakfast, light snacks in the evening. Indoor/outdoor pools. We have also stayed at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East. The outdoor pool is great, they have a nice playground. Both of these are about 10 minutes from Hershey.
At Dutch we have stayed at Eden, very nice (pricey now though), the Courtyard Marriott, and the Fairfield Inn and Suites. All were within 10 minutes of Dutch, and nice. If you do Dutch, you could do it like this
Day 1, get to hotel swim, do preview Day 2, full day at Dutch Day 3, Amish activities like a buggy ride, Turkey Hill Tour, Cherry Crest, Hands on House etc.

Another idea is Lake Compounce. We go there every Summer. The Doubletree Bristol is right next door and very nice. It's compact, but tons of fun, my kids love it. They have a waterpark and the amusement park. You could also visit some nearby museums. My kids love KidCity museum which is a short drive away.

Thank you maybe I would look at lake compounce and Dutch wonderland and skip Hershey since we only have 3 days.
I have only been to GA once and it was as a teen. Just was asking because someone suggested it because it was close. We don't care about thrill rides. My youngest likes wilder rides but won't be tall enough, while my older one is about 50 inches but much more timid. They prefer rides more like Disney.

If thrill rides aren't their thing, then Lake Compounce is a good fit. My kids are 5 and 8 and love it.
