Try or Not try?

My Husband and I are so torn so I'm turning to you guys for advice.

We got married in October and have been living together for the past 2 years. We recently bought our first house and just finished remodeling. We're going on vacation next week which happens to be my ovulation week and we want to start trying but my sister said something about enjoying the house first. We don't really go out much so it wouldn't be too much of a damper on our social lives but we keep going back to that statement.

Thoughts? anyone have something similar?

This is such a personal decision and depends so much on how you and your DH feel about whether you are ready to have kids. Im not sure why you wouldn't be able to enjoy your house once you have kids unless you like to host a lot of parties and feel like you wont be able to do so once you have kids. It is true that once you have kids, your time is no longer entirely your own, and traveling, renovations, social outings, relaxation time etc-- though not impossible becomes limited and more difficult.

Do what is right for you. If you want to have kids now, try,if you want to wait, wait. Some people make ****** comments. Don't take them to heart. I don't know why you can't enjoy your home with kids? That seems strange to me.

Even if you get pregnant on your first try you have 10mos to enjoy the house alone. Also it's not a given it'll work right away anyway. Do whatever you want and don't listen to anyone else. If you feel it's the right time give it a try. I got pregnant 14 days after moving into my new house. It didn't take away from anything.

Like pp have said it is a very personal decision. DH and I started trying one month after we moved into our house.
I got pregnant the second month trying- so we bought the house the first week of April, moved in the last week of April and I found out I was pregnant on 7/3--in between moving in and getting pregnant I defended my doctoral thesis. I went from one huge life event to the next--I was estactic to get pregnant right away because I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure and thought DH and I were going to have a long road to becoming parents- my pregnacy was a blessing but it did prevent me
From doing a bunch of projects I had planned to do the summer we moved in- between migraines and all day sickness coupled with DH's insistence I avoid all chemical fumes things I planned to do did not get done- it is just over two years since we moved in and the majority of the stuff has been put on hold.
I love my house and have enjoyed it but being pregnant right after moving in prevented me from taking time to settle in a bit--I love my daughter and would not change my decision although it was not the way I planned things when we first decided to buy our house.

We bought a house, got married and got pregnant all within about 4 months! We didn't live together before either. I wouldn't change anything we did. My only advice is be ready for it, it can happen the first month. It did for our first dc and it messed with my head a bit. I started thinking I wasnt ready etc. because I never thought I'd get preggo in the first month!

It's a personal decision - do you feel ready personally? There's always something to wait for - enjoying the house, the next big raise, finishing a degree or professional program, etc.etc. You can't plan your life around external factors. It's more a matter of whether you feel ready.

That's a very personal decision. Only you and your dh know if you're really ready to have a baby. Like other posters said, even if you do get pregnant right away you will still have 9 or 10 months before the baby is born. Yes, for the first few years of a child's life your house will be full of baby gates and toys all over the floor, but the love you will have for your child will make all of that completely worth it.
