Sachem UPK program

Anyone's LO go to the Sachem UPK program? How did you like it? How did your LO like it? We just found out we got into it for September. Thanks for any feedback!

Sachem UPK program

Congratulations! Both of my girls went - one I paid and the other was through the lottery (she's in it right now). They both did it at Nokomis. The program is excellent! My oldest was completely prepared for kindergarten. Any questions, FM me.

My DD is in it now. I love it and she loves it. She's learning so much, and I definitely feel like she's ready for K. We didn't get selected in the lottery and ended up paying but I couldn't be happier. She's at Waverly Ave. Chat Icon

Great program. Most of my friends kids were in it this year and last. My dd got in this year but we choose to keep her where she was the year before because I was afraid of how she would handle change. If you get in free it's even better!

Can you girls give some information on the program?
When do you start applying? How old does your child have to be when it starts? How much is it if you dont get in? what are the hours?

Thanks so much. My DS will be 3 in July. I am not sure when to start doing these things. Chat Icon

Re: Sachem UPK program

Not sure how great it would be for a working mom though. It's only a few hours a day right?

Yeah it's half day. It's a couple of years away but we'll likely have to find somewhere else for DD. It's just not practical for FTWP.

It's only for prek age 4. You apply in feb and find out in April if you get in. There is also a wait list. Some people on the wait list get in the free program and some get in and have to pay but it's very reasonable for 5 days a week. Some kids don't get in at all because there just aren't enough spots but it worth a chance.

It is hard for ftwm but a lot of kids are taken by their grandparents or other family to the program.

I kept DD in her daycare and she does the Pre K program there.
It's pricey, but it's worth it because she is there 10 hours a day, just like daycare.

Thanks ladies. That's the problem I was having. I have to find a way to get her there! I work 3 days a week and my parents are willing to do the other 3 days. I wanted to send DD back to wear she is now but if we can save that $300 a month would be better for us financially. I just hope she does well with the change bc she loves where she is!
