Fever for 6 days
Dd is 4. She woke up Sunday with a fever. Went to dr Monday and wad diagnosed with strep throat. Started zithromax Monday. Today is the last day of antibiotics andsshe still has a fever from 101-102. Her throat seems better but she has a yucky cough. She totally seems out of it and her eyes are all glassed over. I am getting a lil concerned. Will be calling dr when they open but was wondering if anyone had any idea what could be

Re: Fever for 6 days
Not sure but I know I took DD to the Dr last summer for coxsackie, no fever, just rash. 3 days later she had a fever virus for 5 days. I know fever comes before rash so I'm thinking she picked up a fever virus at the dr. So it could be that. Hope she feels better. They told me its not unusual for a fever to last 7 days but with strep Id be concerned that maybe she needs a different abx.

Re: Fever for 6 days
Something similar happened to DS in the winter. Took hm to urgent care, diagnosed with strep, and was put on amoxicilin. Halfway through antibiotic course, he began having fevers of 101-103, so I tok him back to urgent care, but they said throat and glands looked fine, and he may have just picked up something else. It turned out to be nothing, took another week for him to feel completely better. But, I did get him checked out again to be safe.

Could be that the antibiotic didn't work. That happens sometimes. I'd bring her back in.

Re: Fever for 6 days
Both of my kids had fevers earlier this year that lasted for days and days with nothing else. My DS went about 5 days, my DD went 8 straight days with high fevers. We had repeat ped visits and blood work done on her but it turns out it was just a virus that had to run its course.
Because your LO had strep I think I would bring her back for a repeat culture to make sure the strep is gone. Sometimes the first round of antibiotics don't always work. Hopefully she starts feeling better soon!

Re: Fever for 6 days
My 3.5 yr old girls had RSV in January. One had fever for 5 days and the other for 7 days. Hope your child feels better!!!
ETA: The one that had 7 days of fever was diagnosed with an ear infection on day 5 of the fever.
