Chewing but not teething

DD will be 2.5 shortly. She definitely has in all her molars and teeth (confirmed by a dentist months ago). Lately, she has been chewing like crazy on her straw cups and on her hands (the the point of her fingers getting all these red marks on them). Has anyone's dc had this? Is it something I should be concerned about? What's even more bizarre is that in daycare, she's barely drinking whereas she used to be an avid water drinker. The teacher says she always has the water cup in her mouth, but always just chewing on the straw.

Dd went through pretty much the same thing close to that age. Suddenly get hands were constantly in her mouth, chewing on them and getting soaked with saliva as a result. I didn't know if it was anxiety or something else but after afew weeks it stopped as quickly as it had started.

Chewing but not teething

I think it's pretty common, we call it the biting phase in our family... I bit the neighbor girl, lol.

Thanks. She did change classrooms at daycare recently so maybe it is some anxiety...
