Ocean City, Maryland

Can anyone give me some info on Ocean City. As of now we are going to Lake George but are thinking of possibly trying something else. We have a 2 1/2 year old with us so I want to make sure beside the beach there is more for him to do. TIA

I love Sunset Island in Ocean City, it's bayside, so you have to walk across the street to get to the ocean but it's a resort that has an indoor pool, outdoor pool, kiddie pool, food and drink service at the pool, etc. and a little bay beach where they can play with the sand. Your LO is so young they might prefer pools to beaches anyway? You can walk to some restaurants from there too which was a plus for DH&I becuse we like to drink with dinner :)

Other than that, I would avoid the boardwalk area for staying, it's very old and there are only a few places to stay that aren't ancient.

Re: Ocean City, Maryland

I would recommend Bethany Beach or Rehoboth beach Delaware. Its not to far from ocean city if you wanted to visit for a day.
I don't get the draw of ocean city, it didn't seem family oriented at all. The boardwalk was very seedy and lots of shady characters

But I loved Bethany beach and Rehoboth beach, much better crowd and more family oriented. check out VRBO and rent a house next to the boardwalk, that is what we did and it was great!

I second the seediness of the OC boardwalk and would recommend Rehoboth over Bethany. I think Bethany is pretty boring, though very quiet and family-oriented.

We stayed at the Hilton resort and had a great time. We barely spent time at the boardwalk and mostly drove to local seafood places.

We also stayed at the Hilton last year around 4th of july weekend. We had an amazing time. Loved the hotel...pools...beach is just steps away. We drove to local restaurants...highly recommend the Hilton and would go again this year if I wasn't due with baby #3 in July.

Agree with this but I'd actually flip Bethany for Rehoboth ;) Though much nicer than OC Boardwalk, Rehoboth boardwalk can get pretty... interesting... as well. Bethany is just a nice family place all around so we prefer to stay there and make the Rehoboth boardwalk trip one night of the week.
