Boys underwear question

What does your 6 year old wear? DS will be 6 next month and he has the superhero briefs.

I was talking to my sister the other day about it bc she's potty training her 3 year old. She also has two older boys 13 and 10. She said she has all her boys in boxer briefs. She was surprised I put him in the briefs. I never thought about it bc he's so young. I guess I understand bc she has older boys.

What does your kindergartner wear? At what point to you introduce boxer briefs?

I really hadn't thought about that...,my DS is only 4 and I can't see him wearing anything but superhero briefs for a long time Chat Icon

But I think this question is almost the equivalent to the moms of girls, "At what point do you introduce thongs?" I think the answer to both is when they're able to buy their own underwear or have a strong preference one way or the other. So...I'll be buying briefs (for my DDs and my DS) for the foreseeable future Chat Icon

LOL! Thanks. I actually should call it briefs and not tighty whiteys. LOL! For now it's briefs. He's only 5. Although I think there's a difference between thongs or boxers. I'd be ok with buying my 10 year old DS boxer briefs. I would not be ok with a DD at that age wearing thongs. Oh, thank goodness I have boys! Chat Icon

Re: Boys underwear question

My 6yr old DS where's both boxer briefs and briefs. He prefers the boxer briefs, probably because he wants to be like his older brother and dad.

My SS used to where briefs and boxers until around 12 when he said he preferred the boxer briefs and didn't want boxers anymore.

Eta: I don't think I would compare thongs to boxer briefs. Thongs are sexy and purpose is to avoid panty lines. Maybe boycut short underwear for girls would be a better comparison.

Re: Boys underwear question

My DS who is 4 wears boxer briefs for the most part. He has been since we started potty training. DH made me buy them because he said the briefs are so uncomfortable in his opinion.

We have a few pairs of tighty whities with TMNT on them.

Huh??? There is nothing remotely close in definition between a thong and a boxer brief at all - sorry.

Boys underwear question

My boys are 5 and 3 and both where a mix of briefs and boxer briefs, but both prefer boxer briefs. I usually buy adorable character ones and cute designs.

I said "almost," but I still think the argument can be made. For instance, if you look at the Relationship board, there is a question about what underwear you prefer your DH to wear; almost everyone said boxer briefs, some citing that they are "sexy." And, idk, to ME...like thongs...I perceive them as adult underwear. If comfort is a factor, however, (meanwhile, weren't boxer briefs invented in like the 90s? Chat Icon) I have no problem in buying boxer briefs for my son, but he's never pulling himself, etc. so I think we're good with the briefs.

I originally bought him boxer briefs at 4yrs old because I saw it in his size and thought they were so cute. I noticed when he gets dressed he will wear those first before the tighty whities. I started to phase them out and only buy boxer briefs.

Boys underwear question

My son is training now and we've been using only boxers and boxer briefs... he wants to be like daddy.

It does get frustrating because I can never seem to find the boxers/boxer briefs with characters he likes on it, like the pull ups have (Mater, Thomas, Jake, Buzz Lightyear, etc). I feel like that would make him more excited to keep them dry so he can wear them longer.

He's still wearing the same undies I potty trained him in: most have some kind of design.

He'll be in kindergarten this year.

Most of his friends have regular (briefs) undies too & are a bit older.

My 6 yo just started wearing boxer briefs. He takes swim and needs to get changed in the locker room. The Lego tighties were no longer appropriate Chat Icon

My son has a boxer brief Justice League set: batman, superman and green lantern. I believe my sister got it at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. It might have even been target, but those are his fave including the Calvin Klein ones because of the colors, Lol!

I will find out!
