Disney - Anyone do a rental home outside of Disney?
At the VERY early planning stages of a Disney trip and just trying to price things to present DH with a budget. Looking to go next April. DC will be 5 and almost 3 so I LOVE the idea of having a lot of space. Staying on-site is probably out of the question as I don't want to be squished in a hotel room with them and can't justify $300+ more a night for more space when I'm finding these gorgeous rental homes for $150/night with private pools, but... are they too good to be true?
Anyone rent a house around Disney? Are there certain neighborhoods that are better than others? who did you rent through? They all claim "minutes from Disney" but is that true?

I haven't stayed at a house, but I've stayed at Timeshare about 10 minutes from the gates. While you won't have a private pool, there are kids activities and 2 bedrooms with 2 baths. Each unit has a full kitchen and an enclosed porch/balcony with a table. If you're interested in more info PM me.

I've rented 2x from All Star Vacation Homes, specifically in Acadia Estates. We rented a much larger house than what you need (6 and 7 bedrooms), but they have smaller options. All the houses have a private pool. I would not hesitate to rent from them again and recommend them to others.

How far is this from the parks and do you also rent a car?

I rented through homeaway a few years ago. The renter sent me the address so I could map it. I wanted a screened in private pool but more around $80 /night so I think the house was about 20ish minutes away. I found other people's reviews to be accurate.

We never did Disney but have rented private home in many other locations and they have always been accurate.
We have stayed in a timeshare (orange Lake) and have a 2 bed 2 bath unit and its a huge resort. Full kitchen so we cooked most of the time and it was max 10 mins to the park (with traffic).
Yes I would rent a car if you are not staying at a Disney resort. I have always been able to get cars pretty cheap. One time it was just over $100 for the week.

Yes, we rented a car. You'd have to unless you want to call taxis every day. There's no shuttles or anything.
Acadia Estates is about 10 minutes from the parks. It's really easy to get to them. There are several different complexes you can rent a house in. On the website you can check out the map of where each development is located.
