Any NYCDOE moms recently give birth? Q about maternity leave
I am scheduled to go to the uft workshop but I might not be able to make the date. It's been 4 years and I heard things have changed. Can anyone give me the lowdown on how it works now for maternity leave?
I'm due 6/22. With DS, I had a paper that my ob filled out in the hospital, a friend came and picked it up and gave it to my secretary. Then I had to submit everything to the insurance companies within 30 days. Now I heard things are online.

Everything is on SOLAS. You put in your leave and submit paperwork (scanned, faxed, or mailed) within the time frame. It's annoying. I wound up printing an insurance form & mailing it because I clicked the wrong button and was locked out of the system - and of course HR connect is useless!

Make sure you get a letter from the hospital saying your lo was born, in case you don't get the birth certificate in 30 days time, otherwise health insurance won't be retroactive.
