Daycare or In Home Sitter Suggestions

I'm not due until September but I want to start researching facilities and prices.

I live in Oceanside/Baldwin border and work in Carle Place. I would appreciate any suggestions for either location or in between. My hours are 9-5 with a 30ish minute commute each way.

I'm hoping that I can swing staying out of work until Jan 1st, but was thinking of doing a test run before I go back or if I can go back to work part time to begin with.

Go on to the OCFS website and search for licensed daycares, read about their violations if they have any and then go from there.

Happy Speak is in Baldwin. The owner is a bilingual speech pathologist and a certified teacher. They really focus on strengthening the children's speech and language skills early on. It's a very warm and nurturing in-home environment ;)

I have been on OCFS and started a list - there's just so many I'm not sure where to start.

I would decide what area is best for you and narrow it down from there. Once you see a few places you will have a good idea of what you are looking for. I would check violations of course before going in, but I would start with just narrowing down the area, doing online research and then going to tour the schools.

We have always had an in home sitter, but for one kid it is expensive.

You need to decide what you think is right for your family. We work long hours and can't be limited to a day care centers hours. We like the convenience of not having to drop off and pick up, pack bottles/milk/diapers/wipes and of course minimizing germs! On the other side, kids in day care get the socialization and learning experiences kids at home probably don't get.

Good luck!

I hear infant spots in daycare are VERY HARD to come by. My friend had june baby when back to work in sept. 2014. She had daycare booked before the baby was born.

I live in Oceanside. I have a friend at work who takes her kids to Tutor Time. I've heard nice things about Loving and Learning, too.
