Ok that is beyond revolting and bums me out because my kids really like puffins. What I will say about the social media thing is that a lot of companies have younger kids running their social media. Maybe whoever handles their Facebook page just did that until they could escalate properly and figure out the correct way to handle. It's good you are doing all the things you are doing. I am not sure I would think to. I think I would have FREAKED out and then thrown it away. Maybe written them a nasty email.

That is DISGUSTING!!!!!!! I would freak out!!! That's just gross, how in the heck did that make it past their quality control??? I'd be all over them, it's not like it's just a little bug. It's a WHOLE dead MOUSE!!! Ack!!!! That is nuts!!!!

Omg first when I saw your title I thought it was going to be a link to a story that someone claims this happened to. The when I saw it was you I said oh this must be an April fools joke! Then as I read I said this girl isn't joking!!!!!!
I'm sorry I would have died died died over and over again right there. I'm sorry my entire town would have heard my screams.
That's BEYOND gross!!!! I'm sorry!!!! Unacceptable. You are doing the right thing!!!!! I'm disgusted right now!!!!!

That's what I was wondering, where is the QC?! But, everything is machine operated these days, so I highly doubt anyone is looking into the bags or boxes, EVER! Unless a consumer reports an issue. So disgusting.

Has anyone read the jungle by Upton Sinclair?
This probably happens all the time and we never know. What I would have the biggest problem with is that they didn't immediately address it with you.
It's so so disgusting but I guess could (and prob does happen) with all cereal brands.

I don't know. My son is 16, and a cereal junky. He has eaten at least 2 bowls daily of many brands of cereals for the over a decade, and we have never once found anything dead inside! I've never found anything dead in any of the food I've ever bought surprisingly.
Sadly, my son just doesn't get that I won't buy this brand anymore. All he cares about is that he can't have the PB/Chocolate cereal anymore, and has been whining about it since it happened. Granted, he has special needs, but the mouse doesn't seem to have affected him!

When you think about where food has been before it reaches your plate, it makes me want to live in a bubble. On more than one occasion I've witnessed rodents frolicking all over the produce at a supermarket, vermon inside fresh produce. To think of what might be lurking in some restaurant kitchens...

I contacted them regarding this and they got back to me right away saying this incident is unprecedented and that they are conducting a full investigation. They said they could put me in contact with a customer service rep regarding the matter. I'm so grossed out because my kids eat the cinnamon version.

This really doesn't surprise me. I'd have gone back to the store, demanded a refund.
Glad they are trying to handle this tho. That's very encouraging
ETA: Sorry I should clarify.. I did product recall claims. LOL folks would MAIL us all sorts of packaged food finds. The ketchup bottle filled with bugs was the WORST. I could see them teaming inside, no way I was going to open it. I had teeth mailed to me with proof of life style photos and an olive pit. I have seen dead mice pieces in all sorts of packaging. The fact it was the whole mouse is pretty interesting actually. Small guy. Generally they run when the machinery starts up. Guess he got stuck and suffocated.
Not much grosses me out when it comes to any processed foods.
I thought maybe it died IN the bag, but I would have thought a mouse could chew through the packaging?
We just received a package from them. It had two products in it, and 5 coupons for free products. Nice gesture, but after finding a dead mouse in their product, I will never try another one, FREE or not!!

Yes, their letter to us also said it was unprecedented. Of course they are going to say that They also went on to say they have the highest quality control standards, but I seriously question that if a mouse was in our sealed package!

They also sent a prepaid label to send the package back via USP GROUND. You would think they want that critter back via FEDEX Asap!! I'm a little annoyed that I have to drive out of my way to drop a package off at UPS, which is actually now closed for the weekend, so will have to go Monday before going on vacation. Super inconvenient for me.
