The other group mentioned in this thread is definitely not welcoming or friendly.

I have been to a few meetups in that group and found most friendly.
Sorry you didnt have a great experience.

Well my experience was not the same. I received a message from the organizer which said that if I did not come to an event by the end of the week I was going to be removed. I responded that I am a working mom and none of the events were scheduled for when I was available. She said then suggest an event. Which I did. Then she removed me. If that is your definition of friendly and welcoming so be it!

omg no way!! that didnt happen to me! there is so many non active member that are still in the group. do you remember the organizers name? i just joined last summer when a new leader took over. I cannot see her saying those things!

It is the current leader (if you can even call her a leader). There are over 150 non active members in the group (which she states in the groups description). She sent out the message making it sound like it was to everyone who didn't go to an event but obviously I am not an idiot and can tell it was only to me since she did not remove everyone who had not come to an event that week according to her message.

Honestly I graduated high school a long time ago and I don't need to go back. If that is how she wants to run her group so be it. I am sure her sponsors would love to know the truth of how she runs things. Because honestly it gives them a bad name that they would associate themselves with someone who acts like that.

mommy and me of suffolk county

I'm one of the event hosts and its a great group of ladies!

Love the ladies in this group im a member too !

I'm also an event host and I can honestly tell u I really enjoy this group. I love the fact that there's a wide variety of events geared towards staying at home and working moms, even dads are welcomed. There are events literally from Monday through Sunday at different times of the day, some of them are even at night, a lot of these events happen all throughout Suffolk but there are a few in Nassau as well. We have also many sponsors that offer us great discounts for either group classes (even private ones), indoor play spaces, photography, etc. Another thing that I really like is that you don't have to pay a fee to belong to the group, which is great because if for whatever reason you decide to leave, you will not run into issues about paid fees. We do encourage our members to participate in any of the many events we have, as a mom I totally understand how busy our lives are and that sometimes we just don't have the time to even take our little ones to a play date, this is the reason why we ask our members to at least attend one event within 6 months, if a member hasn't been active for 6 months straight, we send an email to her to encourage participation but if we don't hear back we assume that member is not interested and might become deactivated, if that's the case and she wants to come back, she's more than welcome to join us again.

Ouch this sounds pretty harsh, did you try to contact her at the end? We do have events anywhere from Mon-Sun however I did notice you said that you couldn't make any events because you were not available, were you able to at least attend 1 event within 6 months? Because if it's related to participation, I can guarantee you nobody gets deactivated if they have at least attend 1 event. If you're interested, I can ask her to get in contact with you to clarify any misunderstanding.

I was sent an email and told I have a week to go to an event I said there was no events that week on the weekend when I was available. she told me to suggest one which I did and instead of having me go to the event she removed me. I messaged her and voiced my disappointment and she never responded.

No need to speak with her. I don't associate myself with people who act like they are in high school. I found another group that was welcoming from the start and don't need a group that thinks they are above everything else and is lead by a person who thinks she is better that others. Like I said I am done with high school and don't need to go back.

It seems that u weren't able to attend any events within those first 6 months. Then you suggested an event, got deactivated, and got no response? I wish I could help u better by being the person that talked to you initially so I could clarify any misunderstanding but unfortunately I'm not. You seem pretty hurt for what happened and that's the reason why I suggested communicating with that person directly.

One thing that I'd like to ask u. Please don't generalized our group when saying that we think we're above everything else, and are not welcoming or friendly. We're a group completely opposite of that, our many members can testify to that and I think the number of mommies in our group prove that as well, I wish you were able to experience it by urself. I can mention the bad experiences I've had with another group and the organizer but the OP was asking for a specific group, I thought it might have been ours, and offered a description thinking that ours might have been it. Plus I think it's better for somebody to experience a group by herself cause my experience might not be the same as hers. But I'm happy that u were able to find another group and are still able to participate in events.

I am not going to go back and forth but numbers don't make a group friendly. The description of the group itself states that about 150 of the members have never been to an event. You can thank your organizer for acting shady. I never once said no one likes your group but my experience was that it is not welcoming and friendly. That was my experience and will state it when talking about this group.

I'm def not one to keep going back and forth either but it seems that in the last few days u have come to LIF, exclusively to this thread to talk numerous times about our group, which shows me that you are really hurt. Again, I just wanted to help to clarify any misunderstanding. Yes, u didn't say no one likes our group but you did make a generalized assumption when it seems that you actually had a bad experience with one single person.

When we offer statistics is to show true numbers of active members, number of ppl we have met, etc. If these numbers were not truthful, believe me, we wouldn't have them public. Keep in mind that since we have way above 300 members, a lot of those members are either new (haven't attended an event yet), or inactive (here's when the 6 months are applied, if they're not able to attend at least 1 event, that member might get deactivated, and this is to encourage participation and keep the number of members real)

Again I'm glad u were able to find another group where u can socialize with other mommies and their little ones, which is so important for us, moms, and for our little peanuts.

Meetup group for 2 yr olds?

I just lost my job so I guess for now I am a stay at home mom. Does this group do a lot of activities that cost money? Or are there a lot of free activities. I have to be very budget conscious now. Can you tell me some more info?

Just looking to keep busy during the day. I have a very active 14 month old boy and don't want to sit home all day watching peppa pig,

Oh no! You will get something soon. But if you're going to lose your job, at least it's summer time! I will fm you the link. Most things events are free.
