day care in/near Kings Park/E.Northport/Northport?

Hi there. I'm expecting my first baby in May and have started to look into daycare centers. The plan is for baby to be in daycare 3 days a week starting in November. I've looked into the big centers, Tutor Time, Kiddie Academy and The Learning Experience but was wondering if anyone had any input on in home day care providers in the area? I'm open to anything and would love to have something to compare the big centers to. If you could share your thoughts/experiences, I'd really appreciate it! Thank you!!

i would recommend you look on the NYS website for the office of child and family services. you can search by school district/zip/town for daycare providers by type. to find in home i think it would be called family daycare. this would only be licensed in home providers, so you aren't seeing everything that's available (ie unlicensed in home daycares) but it's a start. there are only a handful in npt/enpt that are licensed. good luck!

Re: day care in/near Kings Park/E.Northport/Northport?

I have a good friend who lives in that area and when looking for a place she initially signed her two sons up at New Beginnings. She ended up having a few really bad experiences there and leaving. I know she ended up using a private nanny instead because she was so upset about the things that went on there so I don't have a better rec but I can tell you that from what she told me, if I were you, I would avoid that place. I wondered if they had any other issues so I checked the NYS website and found this:

418-1.15(a)(14)
The provider must immediately notify the Office upon learning of the death, serious injury or infectious illness of an enrolled child which occurred while the child was in care at the center or was being transported by the provider. Chat Icon

...That link I provided takes you to the NYS site so you can search when trying to choose a place. I hope that helps! It helped me a lot but my place, that I love, is in Smithtown so it's not in the area you are looking for.

If Huntington Station isn't too far - I know it's RIGHT near East Northport, a friend uses Oyster Babies and LOVES it. My ex's cousin uses their other location in Oyster Bay and is very very happy. Here is their info:

Thank you so much for the feedback! I really appreciate it! Especially the info about New Beginnings! I will cross that off my list!

My son goes to New Beginnings and before we choose that school/daycare I saw the same violation so I asked about it when we went to look there. It is from a child having pink eye. It was not from a serious injury or death. I can tell you from my experience my son is well taken care of and has great teachers. He only started going this year at 3. I don't know if your friend had problems in younger classes. I just wanted to give you a different experience at that school/daycare. My son is in there 5 days a week/full days. Good luck in your search.

Thank you for your perspective! I'm finding that it is hard to find any places that have NO violations and they do seem scary but then once clarified it really isn't such a big deal. Thanks again!

my son goes to preschool there, I know countless friends who use new beginnings for anywhere from 6 hours a week to 8 hours a day. I dont know one person who is unhappy there.

The teachers are fantastic, I text my sons teacher directly questions, or if he is sick, she texts me picture of him in class.

Classes are clean, Front door always locked, well maintained facility.

I would look on FB for local groups, Kings Park Moms, Smithtown moms,I am sure there is probably a northport group. They are generally very good with recomendations!

Good luck in your search

My SIl uses news beginnings and is VERY happy there and has had ZERO issues with them. Before they moved, they also used The Learning Experience in Npt. and She LOVED them so much too!

Would you consider Commack? My 2 oldest went to and the next two (when I will be going back to work) will go to JKL Montessori. They take babies through prek.
