Silly questions about mother's helpers
So does anyone use a mothers helper? What do they do? What do you do while they're "watching the kids? How much do you pay per child? How many hours?
I wasn't sure if having a helper would be good, or would it feel like I have another kid to watch? The kids who have offered are young, so I definitely couldn't run to the store. Maybe do laundry, but then I'm thinking I don't really need anyone to watch them for that.
I know people who love having the help, but wondering if anyone here found it to be not that helpful?

Silly questions about mother's helpers
Initially its showing them what you want them to do, feed your child, where you keep things, etc... after that its great! I loved it. I had 1 girl I loved and my dd loved. 1 woman didnt work out my dd didnt like her. I liked her but my dd never warmed up to her. I work from home so it was a huge help. I went into my home office closed my door and let the girl handle everything. I also ran errands while she was there I would be gone an hour tops.

Thanks. See , I've had friends who've also worked from home and had a mother's helper and that makes sense, but I would just be doing stuff around the house. The girls who are looking to be mother's helpers that I know are young, so I wouldn't leave the house. I'm guessing they'd just play with the kids while I did laundry, etc, but I wouldn't need them very long.

Yeah, I guess. Then my kids wouldn't be fighting and making more of a mess while I cleaned up, etc.
I have no clue how much they are. Think it depends. Some sound more like babysitters, where you can actually leave for a bit.

Re: Silly questions about mother's helpers
I have 1 dd and I pay $10 an hour. My helpers are young, so I don't leave the house. I use the time to get stuff done around the house or just relax. Well worth it!

I think it would be a help. There were days I used it for that. The girl i had was 22, college graduate and a doll. I paid her $10/hr and used her steady for 2 days a week about 4-5 hours a day. She was great, my dd loved her and i felt a lot less guilty about working from home and ignoring my dd.
