Eczema help please
Please share your eczema cure. My six month old has severe eczema. It bounces back after steroid treatment.
Thought I had cut out all major allergens but I just realized I was eating something prepared with soybean oil every day :( So, will be cutting that.
Have already tried lots of creams and changing body wash, but still looking for something to help my LO. I will take any and all advice. Thanks!

I am in the exact same spot as you with my 5 month old, so I feel your pain.
Right now we use Cetaphil antibacterial soap because she gets weeping spots, and only use soap once a week on her body. I wash her head/neck and diaper area more often. And lukewarm water, never hot. Then CeraVe cream, not lotion 3x a day, plus more when needed. We went thru a lot of soaps and lotions, and this combo was best, but her skin is still not clear.
We also have a humidifier on in her room everyday. I only dress her in cotton, fleece material seems to be really irritating.
It's really tough with this cold weather.

Both my kids and I have eczema, and when they were little their flare-ups were really bad. I'm assuming you already switched to a free and clear detergent? Not only did we have to switch, but anyone who cared for or had contact with my kids had to switch to free and clear detergent as well. That made a world of difference for them.

We do oatmeal baths at least once a week. My two year old loves them. He actually has a pretty bad flare up right now. We did an oatmeal bath last night, followed by lotion and cortisone cream on the really bad spots.

We are using the best thing I could find when DD1 had eczema- no dyes, fragrance, or optical brighteners...I could try a switch, but not sure what to switch to. What worked for you? I'm going out later to buy gentle soap for my shower.

I would love to get to a point where the angry, weepy rash stays away without prescriptions. We are using Cetaphil, but it doesn't say antibacterial. I'll ask the derm what he intended for us to use.

We use Seventh Generation free & clear detergent. Also, the dermatologist said to skip fabric softener, but they seemed to be doing okay with a free & clear fabric softener so we still use that.

California baby for wash
dab dry barely.. while still moist completely slather in Aquaphur
Use CeraVe for treating it through the day.
We also use Baking Soda baths with her now.
Aveeno did nothing and all the other brand name 'sensitive' did nothing either. I will openly admit I was against California Baby because I find it to be outrageously priced, but.. it does work.

We also use the Aveeno and pediatrician recommended Vanicream, which is a very light moisturizing cream I bought at CVS. I put it on her twice a day, in the morning when she wakes up and before bed. It controls her flare ups but I really have to be consistent and regular in using it. If I miss even one application, her skin starts to get red and dry.

Eczema help please
This is what has worked for my son. He has terrible eczema. We used so many sensitive washes and lotions and eczema specific ones but the doctor said these can have ingredients in them that can cause flare ups. Bathing is good for the skin. If your DC likes to play in the tub, let them play first and wash at the very last minute. Use plain old Dove white bar soap (not the liquid). Take them out immediately after washing and pat dry. Immediately put on CereVe in the tub. This stuff is like magic! Don't put anything fleece lined as it doesn't let the skin breathe. So footed pjs and sweat pants can be tricky.

Eczema help please
Thanks everyone. I'm so disappointed that DD's flare came back after all the steroid creams. And using lotions like crazy. I knew we were masking symptoms of something, but was hoping one of the changes we made would have helped. Her skin isn't dry, but it's covered in red bumps and some spots are weeping. :(

We tried that first since it helped DD1 and I prefer natural stuff for baby. Unfortunately, it's one of the things that hasn't worked. Thanks.
