Suffolk Moms (and Dads)
I am really, really, really trying to get this organization to come to Suffolk. I sent the woman who runs it a few ideas for locations for play dates (apparently no bounce type places allowed). But I figured the more people she from Suffolk the more likely she would be to set up some play dates. I went to one in Nassau and it was very nice. The best part is, so far, all the play dates are on weekends so us FTWMs get a chance to do fun stuff with our kids and maybe meet some new Moms as well. The organization is: Peerpals.org
They are for pre-schoolers with and without disabilities trying to help make social connections for all the kids. The idea is a child would have a "pal" to start school with but the same school thing doesn't seem to be working out but the play dates could still be beneficial for all.

That sounds like a wonderful program for both children with and without special needs!

Yes I am very excited about it. I work with adults with ID/DD so I know how hard the social aspect can be for them. If we could start at the pre-school age it could make a world of difference for everyone. I just don't want to have to keep schlepping to Nassau on days off (I do that all week).
