Anyone's DC have a Frenulectomy (Tongue-tie surgery)

Hey All- Anyone have any experience with this?

DS is 22 months and the dr thinks its safe to say we should get it checked out. He recommended a pediatric dentist, and they don't take our insurance. He recommended another dentist and they dont do it.
I really just need a consult at this point. Any advice? I'm in Suffolk County, Port Jefferson/Coram area.

Also- anyone have this done to their DC at an older age? Everything I'm reading says to have it done at a few days/months old. Is it going to be worse now because he's almost 2?

My DS did not have it but its something I am currently looking into for him and something I should have fought to have done when he was an infant. Our dr refused to do it since it was slight but I can clearly see he has a tongue tie now. He's almost 3. I would recommend finding a pediatric ENT. It's better to have it done before he's 5. After that I read that it's more complicated and it could effect speech down the line if you do not get it taken care of.

My child does not, but I did as an infant.

Try an ENT. DD saw Dr Campell for her ears in Patchogue and he was really sweet.

Dr.Monte in Mount Sinai!!! Amazing! She did DS when he was 6 weeks old, but she is an expert on them. Im in the Port Jeff area too.

My son's was cut at 2 years old - the ENT noticed it - his was cut while he was already having his tonsils out - he had It done under anestisia

I will say his speech changed dramatically after it was cut - so worth it

talk to ENT - my other son's was cut at 7 months - we used Dr. Spencer
